Day 01-Arrival in Antananarivo

Day 01-Arrival in Antananarivo
Antananarivo - Upon arrival, meet your guide who will assist with formalities and transfer you to your hotel.
Day 02-Antananarivo- Andasibe
Andasibe - After breakfast at the hotel, depart for a visit to the cultural and historical Ambohimanga Royal Palace. Here, you will explore the royal city, burial site, and sacred places. This site has maintained its spiritual and sacred character in both ritual practice and popular imagination for the past 500 years and remains a place of worship for pilgrims. Continue to Andasibe with stops along the way for photos and breaks as needed.
Day 03-Andasibe
Analamazaotra Special Reserve - Embark on an early guided visit to Analamazaotra National Park to see the Indri-Indri and Diademed Sifaka in their natural habitat. The unique call of the Indri can be heard early in the morning until noon and again in the late afternoon. They are the largest living lemurs, known locally as Babakoto. Andasibe is the best place to observe the Indris and learn about them, with several legends explaining their origins as they are considered sacred in Madagascar. Other lemur species in the forest include the woody lemur, grey bamboo lemur, diademed sifaka, brown lemur, red mouse-lemur, red-bellied lemur, black and white ruffed lemur, and even the aye-aye. After lunch, enjoy a close encounter with lemurs at the Vakona Reserve Zoo, where you can also see crocodiles, native birds, and other wildlife in well-maintained surroundings. At around 6:30 PM, take a 1.5-hour guided night visit at the park before returning to the hotel.
Day 04-Andasibe- Antananarivo
Antananarivo - After breakfast, drive back to Antananarivo with a stop at Pereiras Park, owned by the Peyrieras family, to see Coquerel’s Sifaka, chameleons, and many other reptiles, as well as Malagasy animals such as butterflies, moths (including the giant Atlas Moth), and tenrecs. Have lunch in town before visiting the Queen’s Palace (Rova Manjakamiadana) on top of the hill.
Day 05-Antananarivo- Morondava- Kirindy
Morondava - After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Antananarivo airport for a flight to Morondava. Capture the beautiful scenery before continuing to Kirindy. Check-in at your hotel (Relais du Kirindy). At around 6:30 PM, begin a guided night walk at Kirindy. The private reserve is known for its giant jumping rat, the “Fosa” (Hypogeomys antimena), the largest carnivorous animal in the country. It also has one of the most endangered ecosystems, lemur species, and many endemic reptile species, as well as unique rare flora.
Day 06-Kirindy – Belo- Bekopaka
Belo Tsiribihina - After breakfast, drive to the Tsingy of Bemaraha. Have lunch at Belo Sur Tsiribihina before heading north on a land track recognized as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Cross the Tsiribihina and Manambolo rivers by small car ferry before arriving at Bekopaka village.
Day 07-Bekopaka
Day 08-Bekopaka –Morondava
Morondava - Drive to Morondava town via the famous “Allée des Baobabs.” Arrive in time for great photos when the sun is low, casting light on the smooth trunks that reflect the orange rays of the sun. Settle at the hotel by the sea for dinner. Lunch at Belo sur Tsiribihina.
Day 09-Morondava- Antsirabe
Antsirabe - Leave Morondava early in the morning as the distance to Antsirabe is long. There will be stops for photos and breaks as needed. Lunch in the city of Miandrivazo.
Day 10-Antsirabe – Ranomafana
Day 11-Ranomafana
Ranomafana National Park - Explore Ranomafana National Park and discover the beautiful sites in the rainforest and primary forest. Be accompanied by a local guide in this humid area and bring waterproof gear. You can see various species of lemurs such as the Golden bamboo lemur (Hapalemur aureus), red-fronted brown lemur (Eulemur fulvus), and red-bellied lemur (Eulemur rubriventer). There are also rare and endangered species such as the Greater bamboo lemur (Hapalemur simus). Botanically, the park is a genetic reservoir for some rare, endemic plant species, and many medicinal plants. Return to the hotel for lunch.
Day 12-Ranomafana – Isalo
Isalo National Park - After breakfast at the hotel, head south to reach the city of Ranohira and Isalo National Park. Stop in Ambalavao for lunch and a visit to a factory where you can learn about the history of the famous Antemoro paper. There will be breaks to observe the changing mountain and rice field landscapes, arriving in Isalo at the end of the day.
Day 13-Isalo
Day 14-Isalo- Toliara- Ifaty
Toliara - Wake up early and drive to Tulear through different botanical settings. On the way, you will see Mahafaly tribe tombs, beautifully painted and decorated with wooden sculptures. The sea will come into view before reaching Tulear. Walk through the market before lunch, then continue to Ifaty. Enjoy free time for the rest of the day to explore the beach and one of the beautiful lagoons of the island. Optional activities include diving, a dugout ride with Vezo fishers, swimming, or leisure. Hikers can explore the inland vegetation, which includes euphorbia, baobab, and more.
Day 15-Tulear- Antananarivo- Departure
Antananarivo - After breakfast at the hotel, transfer directly to Tulear airport for a flight to the capital city. The flight takes 45 minutes. Upon arrival, have lunch and shop for souvenirs at the artisanal market of the Digue if you have time before being dropped off at the airport for your departure flight.
