Antigua - Welcome! We’re absolutely thrilled to have you join us on an incredible adventure in Antigua Guatemala! Our journey begins with us picking you up from your hotel lobby. Don’t forget to have a fulfilling breakfast and pack a snack for later. We’ll embark on a picturesque one-hour drive, taking us to the charming village of La Soledad, nestled on the Pacific slope of the magnificent Acatenango Volcano.

Acatenango Volcano - As we arrive in La Soledad, get ready to meet your fantastic tour guide! They will provide you with special instructions for the hike ahead. We’ll conquer the trail, which consists of four unique microclimates, each lasting about an hour. Our hike commences with a thrilling ascent through local farm fields, followed by a captivating journey through an ancient cloud forest. The diversity of flora and fauna will leave you spellbound, and the fresh mountain air will invigorate your senses.

But that’s not all! As we exit the cloud forest, prepare to be amazed by breathtaking views of neighboring volcanoes and the mesmerizing Cuchumatanes mountain chain. And guess what? As night falls, you’ll be treated to a truly spectacular natural show. The nearby Fuego Volcano, located right next to Acatenango, often erupts, showcasing fiery lava that illuminates the dark sky. It’s an awe-inspiring sight, perfect for capturing stunning photos and videos, making your experience truly unforgettable.

Acatenango Volcano - After an exhilarating hike, we’ll reach the base camp, a place of rest and relaxation. Take in the serene surroundings as our skilled guide prepares a delicious camp dinner for you, complete with hot chocolate. Indulge in the flavors of the meal while sharing stories and laughter with your fellow adventurers.

Embark on an unforgettable expedition up Acatenango Volcano, Guatemala’s third-largest! Day 1 promises an exhilarating trek covering 80% of the volcano’s rugged terrain, spanning roughly 6 hours. Marvel at the breathtaking eruptions of Fuego Volcano as you gather around the campfire at base camp.

Day 2 kicks off with an early start at 3:30 am to conquer the remaining 20% of the volcano, reaching the summit in just 1.5-2 hours to witness the mesmerizing sunrise. After a hearty breakfast at base camp, begin your descent, arriving in Antigua by 1:00 pm. Don’t miss this thrilling adventure and the chance to experience nature’s grandeur firsthand!

Please note: This tour includes climbing Acatenango Volcano. You have the option to join a tour to Fuego Volcano for Q300.00 per person, payable in cash to the local guide. Kindly note that this is not part of the standard itinerary, and we do not provide any guarantee or insurance for this additional activity.

• Bring all the following: Hiking boots or trekking shoes (no sandals)
• Large-capacity backpack (50L+) with rain cover. You’ll be given food, water bottles, and essentials. You will carry them in your backpack. Sleeping bags and camping gear will be ready at base camp.
• One warm layer and/or windbreaker
• Rain jacket (May thru October)
• Cold-weather clothing for near-freezing night-time temperatures at camp
• Personal toiletries and/or medications
• Camera, hat, sunglasses & sunscreen
• 4 liters of water (minimum)
• Flashlight
