Beautiful hiking trip! - This was a great hike with incredible views in a beautiful part of the country. The journey from Guatemala city to the volcano was smooth and comfortable. I would say the hike is accessible even for novice hikers, but still gives you a good workout if you are pushing the pace. Peter was a great guide, and very knowledgeable about the area. We got to climb over a (cooled) lava field, some parts of which ("chimneys") were still steaming - you can stick your hand in them and feel the heat and humidity from the vegetation that got trapped underneath the lava. There were wildflowers in lots of different colors, and we saw some very interesting insects and spiders, including "hummingbird moths" (large moths that look and behave like hummingbirds, hovering from flower to flower - note that the moth in the picture is a different one).

PACAYA experience - Loved, loved our time climbing this amazing active volcano! Alan our guide such a young but very knowledgeable gentleman. Alan was amazing at explaining everything that envolved our hike. If you de use to experience this phenomena, make sure to wear hiking shoes, mosquito spray, sunblock, and take plenty water & snacks.

Pacaya Adventure - Mirko our driver was amazing, really knowledgeable, friendly and gave great food and activities recommendations in Guatemala City. Our guide Luis was also great. He brought three of his dogs which made the hike even better. I'm not in the greatest of shape and 15mins in my cousin and I decided to rent the horses even though we are deathly afraid of them. $20 USD or $200 QTD. Well worth it. We could also focus on the views and experience and not constantly looking at our feet. Going down was also super hard and we left the horses at the top. My legs are still Jello. I highly recommend this trip.

Great experience! - This was a great experience overall, everyone should do it at least once. I took the option of taking the horse up the trail and it was a great experience. You get to roast marshmallows in a crater at the top of the volcano. The trail is sandy with small rocks. Once you reach the top the view is amazing. Our driver, Gustavo was very informative, professional and charismatic. Our tour guide, Luis made to sure to make us feel safe, especially while riding the horse through steep sections.

Epic views, worth the uphill hike - Beautiful views once you get to the top. It was a moderately strenuous hike, but guides with horses will follow you up, and at any point you can pay money to hop on a horse. It’s worth it though to get to the top!

Great way to spend half a day - Picked us up on time with a small group of 6 people. Once you make it through the city traffic it is smooth sailing to the volcano. Prepare for heat and sun. The walk is dusty with plenty of time to get to the top so anyone with moderate fitness will find it easy. The view is amazing and cooking some marshmallow s’mores in the hot ground was something we didn’t expect and was super fun. Even with heavy afternoon traffic we made it back to our hotel by 1:30pm. An awesome day

5 stars from beginning to end! - Everything from the pick up from our Airbnb to the guide home to the top of Pacaya was 5 stars! Our driver and tour guide was knowledgeable in Guatemalan history. Our guide up Pacaya, though dost speak much English, was funny, knowledgeable of the mountains and was ever so helpful! I’ll recommended this tour group to anyone that asks!

The view - The tour guide was great, and the view was AWESOME! It was breath taking. The worst part for me was trying to avoid the horse manure. And for that reason I would not do that tour again.
