The Day excursion to Pacaya begins at 7:00 am with our driver collecting you from the entrance of your hotel. The ride is exclusively for you and your party, and all our vehicles come with air-conditioning, adjustable seats, and a cooler. It takes approximately an hour and a half to travel from Antigua to Pacaya Volcano National Park.

The Day excursion to Pacaya begins at 7:00 am with our driver collecting you from the entrance of your hotel. The ride is exclusively for you and your party, and all our vehicles come with air-conditioning, adjustable seats, and a cooler. It takes approximately an hour and a half to travel from Antigua to Pacaya Volcano National Park.
The tour has a medium difficulty level and lasts around two hours. After descending, there’s allotted time for relaxation. Here’s a more detailed schedule:
07:00 am - Pick up from hotel in Antigua
08:30 am - Reach Pacaya National Park
08:45 am - Meet the guide and embark on the hiking tour
11:00 am - Reach the summit and appreciate the vista
11:30 am - Head back to the van
12:30 pm - Break time (Each individual gets a bottled water and a soda or beer)
01:00 pm - Depart from Pacaya National Park, bound for Antigua Guatemala
02:30 pm - Arrive at Antigua hotel

Book this tour! - This was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Seeing the volcano up close was unreal. The hike was challenging but absolutely beautiful and worth the effort.
Our driver, Osman, was punctual and friendly and explained a lot of what we were seeing along the drive. He is also a very skilled driver and we felt very safe.
At the volcano, our guide, Cesar, was wonderful. He was patient with us as I struggled to adjust to the altitude and was very understanding when I needed a break. He is also very knowledgeable about the plant life and biodiversity along the trail, so we learned a lot from him. He is genuine and has a kind heart, and honestly by the end of the tour, he felt more like a friend than a guide.
The organizer of the tour whom I communicated with through Viator was also very responsive to all my questions and easy to reach.
This was a 10/10 experience and if you have any doubt about booking, just do it!

Highly recommended half day trip from Antigua - We have hiked Pacaya many times - and this was the best tour we’ve had. Our driver Mario arrived in a nice van 10 minutes before pick up time, had a nice lunch packed and drinks ready in a cooler. Our guide Ceasar was fantastic - very informative, moved at a comfortable pace, was both very knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
We would highly recommend both taking the trip to Pacaya and our tour company. Everything worked like clockwork, and the provisions were excellent Had a wonderful time, tremendous views, and about the right amount of exercise for a half day hike.

A wonderful hike of Pacaya Volcano - Mr. Marlon, our companion for the day, was there on time to take us to our destination where we met our great tour guide who took us through this wonderful journey. Although we didn’t go to the top (not an easy high-altitude hike for old people like us who refused riding horses to help them in climbing the volcano lol), we enjoyed very much the stories our guide shared with us about his family, his culture and the history of the region. As we didn’t go to the top, we had time to go and visit a small ethnic village and explore it by foot.

Perfect Day - This is absolutely a must. Everything was perfect. We had a wonderful and knowledgeable driver (Marlon) and a personal volcano guru (Cesar). Both were exceptional. The hike was great, not too hard and well worth it. Lunch (provided) was delicious, and personalized based on our preferences. This company really goes above and beyond to make every moment memorable. Don’t hesitate, book this one.

Had a great experience - Osman drove us to Pacaya and back. He arrived had time, offered some excellent sandwiches and drinks and even went out of the way to find us good coffee. Learned a lot from him about life in Guatemala. Our guide Cesar who we met at the site was also very good. One thing to note is to carry cash in case you need a horse for the climb up and down. Overall it was a great trip.

Worth the effort. - If you never done hiking I recommend bring cash to rent horse to help with the climbing, the climbing is a work out but is worth the effort. Cesar is an excellent guide. I recommend this tour.

Great trip with wonderful company. - The driver was on time and friendly. They provided water and other sinks along with sandwiches, chips and banana. The food was fantastic. The drive was comfortable and the driver took the time to give us some history of the towns we passed through. It was a safe and educational trip going and returning.
Our guide up the volcano, Cesar Peralta was fantastic. He was patient, kind and shared a lot of history and botanical facts as we climbed. The view at the top (not the true summit but the newer top spot due to the 2010 eruption) is truly a sight to behold.

Extraordinary Caravan Tour to Guatemala - Our 8-day trip with Caravan Tours couldn't have been nicer. Guatemala was even more beautiful than I expected. The people were very friendly and pleasant; it seemed like everyone we passed smiled at us. The three hotels we stayed in were all lovely and offered extraordinary meals with lots of good meats, sauces, and veggies and especially delicious fruits. (I couldn't help eating more of the fruit than I should have.) Our tour bus was first-class and included a restroom; the driver was unbelievably skilled and able to maneuver tight spots in little towns.
Our tour guide, Jorge, was amazing; he had a wealth of information stored in his head and he was generous about sharing it in an interesting and humorous way--history of the country, architecture, Mayan history, political background, economic theories, archaeology, anything we asked him about. Moreover, he was very kind and made sure we were comfortable, safe, and entertained.
Favorite locations included the Mayan ruins, Museum Ixchel (textiles, ceramics, stone), beautiful Lake Atitlan, town of Panojachel (Tenango), city of Antiqua and nearby coffee plantation and ancient Capucine convent; also the Bartolo, Atitlan, and Soleil Hotels. This was my first group tour, and I would take this tour again next week if I could!!

Priceless - The beauty of the nature, the respect for the visitors is matched with the level of commitment responsibility and knowledge from the tour guide (Cesar) and operator (Byron), excellent communication provide confidence and transparency allow you as visitors to relax and enjoy .. recommend for all visitors with all the gratitud for the great level of care for us, for locals and for the environment.
