An excellent morning with excellent guides - We booked a morning session with Real Rocks, and were delighted with their service. I had gotten in touch with them (Jay) via WhatsApp, and clarified a few questions regarding pick-up, costs, etc in the morning. They organised a special hotel pickup (since our hotel wasn't in the pick-up area they service). The taxi took us to their shop/office, where we got kitted out with shoes, helmet, harness, etc. We were then taken to the ferry, to catch a boat to Railay Beach We had five people in our group, and two guides - Kung and Sha. Which makes for an excellent guide-to-participant ratio. We were taken to East Railay beach for a few climbs, and then walked to the West side of the peninsular, for a few more. All the climbs were in the shade, which made it a lot more enjoyable. In total, we had about 3 hrs worth of climb time; which was more than sufficient. For a first-timer, I had my fill till I could do no more. Both Kung and Sha were absolutely fantastic, and took pains to yell encouragement and directions during our climbs. After the climbs, we were put on a ferry, taken back to the office, and they also dropped us off at Ao Nang beach. An excellent morning, thanks to Kung & Sha, and the team at Real Rocks. Highly recommended.

Really fun activity! - Our guide Cha was awesome, he and his crew explained the equipment and how to climb very well. My daughter and I have had indoor rock climbing experience so it wasn’t a difficult transition to outdoor. Cha and his crew were very encouraging throughout and would tell you where to put your hand or foot next if you looked like you were struggling to find somewhere. Overall excellent with opportunities for photos/selfies once you reach the top!

Great experience, challenging climbs - Great experience, hotel pick up, boat to Railay beach, 20 min walk to the rock wall overlooking the beach. Nice setting. Climbs were solid, probably would need previous climbing experience (a bit too hard for complete beginners). Great experience.

Adrenaline kick! - This was one of our favorite activities! Half day tour was the perfect amount of climbing for us (beginners). We had a super fun and helpful instructor and the surroundings were so fascinating and beautiful. Would for sure recommend this if you enjoy adrenaline and a challenge!

10/10 tour - This tour was amazing for the price we paid, first of all the guides were very friendly and helped you overcome fears and climb higher than you ever thought you would. In our case we both managed to complete the climbs and it was a nice change and an exileratimg experience! The speed boat doesn’t take too long and all in all the trip is a nice half day experience for everyone! 10/10 thank you real rocks climbing!!

Great Experience. Would... - Great Experience. Would like to try this again sometime in future. Not easy but with a little of help from the instructor you’ll get to the top. The instructor was fun to be around with and always made sure we are happy. Thanks Realrocksclimbing.

Great fun experience - I’ve never had any interest in rock climbing tbh but since I’ve stayed in Railay for few days I’ve decided to try and it was fun experience. The instructors where pushy when you needed it but not to much they provided clear instructions and advice and they were really fun to be around. I had great time highly recommended

Very nice climbing experience - We were a group of four with one guide (Pom) and had a really nice climbing experience. We felt very secure when Pom secured us by climbing. He always pushed us a to stay positive, gave us instructions how to overcome difficult spots. We climbed routes that we wouldn't have thought possible. This was quite motivating.

Poor experience; I would choose other school in Railey. - Yes, the location is gorgeous - climbing the rock with a view on a 20 shades of blue sea? The school employees indeed picked us up from the hotel, and have all equipment. But the good experience ends there… First of all, not a single instructor was friendly. I felt like I’m in a some kind of a factory, being asked to move around like in army. There was no introductory talk to climbing, what I found strange, inefficient and even dangerous. Fortunately, I’m not a beginner, so I know how to climb, but there were people coming to ME to help with their harness or just simply asking for tips how to climb. And as much as I was happy to help, that wasn’t my job. The instructors did not even answer questions - they would just look at you with a smirk on their faces as if you’re a clown. There was a bottled water, but only 1 bottle of 0,5 liter per person, so make sure you bring some extra because climbing outdoor in 30 degrees can easily make you dehydrated. There were 3 instructors and over 15 participants - some of them were able to climb TWICE within 4 hours. At some point I was helping to belay other people because there were extra ropes hanging OR when one instructor would go on a cigarette break (!!!). Also, “our ropes” have been also used by other people who signed up for a class with other schools. I’m not sure why, but that definitely decreased the opportunities for members of our group to climb. And the routes, as beautiful as they were, were also really boring… all of them were relatively difficult for a beginner and people were just frustrated. Some participants expected that we change the location at some point, but that wasn’t the case. Also, the school didn’t give us helmets on a default, and it doesn’t sound safe especially if you know most of the participants are beginners - you’d need to request a helmet it in their school location. But how would you even know you need a helmet if you’re a beginner? My friend and I were “unfortunate” to participate in a few other half day courses in other places and with other schools, so I’m writing this review with some point of reference how a climbing outdoor class can look like. I wouldn’t come back to climb with this school.
