Sunrise trip to Maya Bay from Koh PP Done - We loved this half day tour because it made my dream come true. I wanted to visit Maya Bay for the last 25 years but not when the place is crowded. So we left PP Don on the speedboat at around 630am and got Maya Bay at around 6.50 am. Well, it was incredible to realise my dream at Maya Bay early morning when it is tranquil and when the sand is untouched. It was a calm morning with the sun only just up over the limestone cliffs and it was amazing. After realising my dream, we then went on to Pileh lagoon for swimming, then moved on to snorkeling with black tip sharks and sea snakes (wonderful) and then onto monkey beach. We got back to PP Don by about lunchtime. It was a wonderful day and one that I will never forget. Staff at Phi Phi Local are friendly and get you to where you want to go very fast and efficiently. (NOTE: I would recommend this early morning start because by 9 am, Maya Bay is rammed with people and the guards are constantly shouting through their speakerphone telling tourists to get out of the sea. At 7am however, it is tranquil and beautiful).

BEST birthday ever! - WE had an AMAZING trip with BATMAN as tour guide. Totally unexpected extra vibe! It was my 50th birthday trip and to see the sun rising at Maya Bay on my birthday was truly magical! BATMAN was a great guide and kept us (and the other tourists) out of harms way and went out of his way to protect the natural wonder.

Phi phi local tour - sunrise tour - We loved sunrise the Phi phi local tour Maya Bay and Bamboo island were so incredibly beautiful Our guide was funny and very friendly We highly recommend booking the sunrise tour. It gives you the chance to see the sun rise from the boat and avoid the big crowds during the day.

Super tour - Beautiful tour departing early in the morning that allows you to be the first to arrive in Maya Bay, being able to admire and enjoy the beach without crowds. The rest of the tour is gorgeous with several snorkeling stops (mask and snorkel provided by the tour). All good!

Value for money - Good price for value, however I’ve seen better coral reefs in Australia and Fiji. All in all though I was happy with tour Get to snorkel/swim travel around on a boat in one of the better islands in Thailand

Fun day out in Phi Phi! - Was a fun day. Monkey beach isn't really worth it, and because of high tide we ended up spending 2 hrs on bamboo beach which was a bit too much. But those are not really controllable factors. Overall, boat was good, locations were good. Being able to get to maya bay early was amazing! As was swimming in phi-ley lagoon and the two snorkeling spots.

Lovely places, but masses of people - First, you wont see the sunrise anywhere but in Phi Phi pier. The tour wont leave till 6.30 so check when the sun rises on your date and try to enjoy by not queuing for your boat. You will miss your hotel breakfast but it’s probably a good thing to seasick people. (Take a pill) Leaving from Phi Phi will be an advantage, you will only share Maya beach with 500 people not 5000. Snorkelling 1. Allowed us exploring a very tiny area, many of us ..and we met with sharp rocks, minor injuries. Monkey island you will see small Monkeys (obviously) Don't feed them, but save fruit and food offered on the boat and throw to the monkeys upon leaving.(not feeding) Bamboo island is a white sand beach, you can experience waves. You might like it because Phi Phi bay is serene, waveless pool Snorkelling 2 is dead safe, no rocks, but you will only see a few fish varieties and the sea bed is boring. 😴 We had a good time nevertheless. We just expected a very different day.

Good tour, but not beating the crowds by any stretch - This was a good trip. But I don't think it can be called "sunrise" or "beat the crowds". You watch the sunrise while waiting for the boat at the dock, and all the locations you visit are very much crowded. Each boat has around 40 people and there are 6 or so boats from this agency alone, not to mention other agencies doing sunrise tours. It wasn't a deal breaker for us, this is a huge tourist destination after all and we visited all the popular sights, so crowds were inevitable. I just think people shouldn't go into this thinking they'll get a reduction in crowds. It felt like any other large tour group. I'll also add that monkey beach made me a bit sad. Monkeys being surrounded by 50+ people, other guides (not our tour) feeding them and stressing them out more. These aren't circus animals, they're wild. As a whole maybe large groups should stop visiting this place altogether. The tour guide was great, the sights were beautiful, and the snorkeling was amazing. I'd reccomend this to others but with the caveat that this is absolutely not a beat the crowds or a sunrise tour.

Do the half day and expect crowds - It was pretty crowded on the boat. Also the full day felt long and all the best stuff was in the morning and lunch was nothing special. Id recommend the half day but not the full day.

Indian travelers- don’t use this tour- terrible experience! - The most disappointing part of the experience was snorkeling- which is the reason for my rating. The experience was ruined due to the guide- Sonia or Sodia, something. She refused to give us the snorkeling tubes because she called us “beginners”. So we basically had the mask but had to come up each time to breathe, completely ruining the experience of watching the fish during snorkeling and also preventing us from recording anything on our GoPro. The guide went on and on about an Indian traveler dying during the experience. According to me this experience biased her towards any Indians. We told her plenty of times that we have snorkeled many times in different places all over the world and were well experienced, but she wasn’t ready to listen. Along with us there was one other Indian couple who also got the same treatment- did not get the snorkeling tube despite the fact that they said they were good swimmers. All the other travelers (who weren’t Indians) were given the tubes without the guide even checking if they were “beginners”. It looked like the only criteria to call us inexperienced was because we were Indians. All of us found the experience very disappointing, especially since for me, snorkeling was the highlight of the tour. Hence, if you are Indian and looking forward to snorkeling, stay clear of this tour- you will experience discrimination and it will ruin your trip for you. Not only the guide, but the other staff also seemed to be biased in the same way. The places we visited- Maya Bay, Monkey beach, Bamboo beach were beautiful in itself so the guide couldn’t do anything to ruin that experience- thankfully. But the snorkeling experience really left a sour taste. I would strongly recommend the company to strictly look at their policies to elevate the experience for the customers.
