Additional Information

Wildlife Wonders’ Sanctuary presents a snapshot of an Otways habitat before the advent of predators like foxes and cats. Animals thrive naturally in a cage-free environment, and can be observed in their regular routines during a wildlife stroll.
At twilight, most animals exhibit activity, with night-loving creatures waking up while day-active creatures retire for the night. The Dusk Discovery tours are limited to a mere 10 individuals, providing ample opportunities to witness breathtaking sunsets and exceptional wildlife observation and photography moments.
In keeping with all of Wildlife Wonders’ programs, every penny of profit goes toward conservation initiatives and research on Australia’s endangered species.

Amazing sights of animals at dusk - We were made to feel very welcome and served with a very good quality light supper. Arriving early we had time to browse in the shop and learn about Wildlife Wonders. We were well equipped with binoculars and and as the evening wore on we saw increasing numbers of native Australian animals in their protected natural habitat. We saw bandicoot, poteroos, swamp wallabies, kangaroo, emu and of course koalas. Our guide was very helpful and enthusiastic, spotting the animals and telling us all about them. All in all it was a very enjoyable evening which I would recommend to anyone interested in learning about and seeing these elusive animals where they are protected from non native species.

Delightful way to see Australian native animals - Such a delightful early evening tour of this fabulous wildlife conservation area. The individual head sets were an excellent way to ensure everyone could hear. Our guide Louisa had a soft voice and it was perfect for this. She was an excellent guide and keenly shared her knowledge with us about all the wildlife we saw. Afterwards our tour group sat and shared a delicious meal that was included in our tickets. Highly recommend visiting this reserve and doing a tour.

Best wildlife encounter experience - The tour was extremely well organised, they had headsets for every one which allowed our guide to speak softly and not disturb the wildlife but we could all hear at the volume we need. Fantastic for people with hearing impairment. Our guide Louisa was very knowledgeable and attuned to the environment, able to alert us to sounds and point out animals we would not have heard or seen on our own. On this particular tour we were able to spot every single species they had on the beautiful property including the reclusive echidnas, the potaroos and the emus. The tour concluded with a very convivial sit down meal and a glass of wine. One of the best experiences we had in the area and great value, also nice to know the money goes back into conservation and research. No hesitation to recommend to everyone travelling in the Apollo Bay area.

If you only do one thing in Apollo Bay, do this! - Wildlife Wonders was recommended to me by a friend and I'm so glad we took his advice and booked the Dusk Discovery Tour, despite the unpredictable spring weather. Our guide was Delaney who is clearly passionate about protecting Australian native wildlife and was keen to pass her knowledge on to the small group of us on the tour. We were provided with small binoculars, a torch and an earpiece, the latter being so that all commentary could be heard, no matter how quietly our guide spoke. We saw many koalas and Delaney explained the meaning of the grunting noises being made by the males! We also spotted padymelons, bandicoots, wallabies and kangaroos, including one with a joey. The view from the sanctuary across the sea was breathtaking. When the rain started falling while we were at the research centre Delaney provided us with waterproof ponchos for the short walk back to the visitor centre, where we enjoyed a delightful meal with our fellow participants. Highly recommend!

Seeing animals in their natural habitat - not cages! - Learning about the research and conservation efforts by an amazing team to help keep these animals safe and in their natural environment is a amazing. Even for Ausssies who have seen some animals before, to seee them in the wild in their natural habitat was great! And to learn so many facts from our knowledgeable guide was so good too! We saw koalas, potaroos, 2 types of wallabies, swamp rat. Thanks to the wildlife wonders team for all the research and conservation efforts!

Lovely experience! - This is a lovely experience that we thoroughly enjoyed! This is a nice gentle stroll with a guide who provides a commentary throughout about the landscapes and animals that can be found there, threats to survival/habitat and how we can help preserve the future of these lovely animals! Olivia, our guide, was incredibly knowledgable and you could tell how passionate she is about animal conservation and welfare. We got to see koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, potoroos and bandicoots as well as a lovely sunset with a view of the ocean. The animals we saw are nocturnal, so may be different if you went on a tour at a different time of the day. It was also interesting to find out about current/recent conservation projects that are being worked on. I highly recommend this tour!
