Drive to Jinka
Konso Cultural Centre - Morning drive west towards Jinka, enjoying the beautiful landscapes like the terraced mountains of Konso. In the late afternoon, we visit the Ari village, known for its beautifully painted houses and floors made of cow-dung. They live near the northern boundary of Mago National Park, close to Jinka.
Discover the Mursi Tribe and Meet the Hamer Tribe
Mago National Park - After breakfast at 8:00 AM, we drive to the Mursi village, navigating challenging off-road slopes to reach this isolated tribe. Their customs, hairstyles, and body paintings for ceremonies are fascinating. In the afternoon, we drive to Turmi (120 km).
Turmi - In Turmi, we visit the Hamer Tribe, known for their friendliness, bull-jumping ceremonies, and decorated women’s dresses. If a bull-jumping ceremony is happening, we will attend.
Explore the Karo Tribe
Omo National Park and River - In the afternoon, we visit the Kara people, located 65 km from Turmi. The Kara are the smallest population in the Omo Valley, with only 2,000 inhabitants across three villages. They live on a promontory with a beautiful view of the Omo River bend. The men are famous for their facial and body decorations made with white chalk, while the women focus on facial decorations and hairstyles.
