• Archaeological Site of Olympia - Olympia is renowned as the birthplace of the most celebrated and significant sporting event of the ancient world. The Olympic Games were held here every four years from 776 BC to 393 AD. This site was also a sacred place dedicated to the Greek god Zeus from around the 10th century BC. Visitors can admire remarkable sculptures, including the decorations of the temple of Zeus, the renowned Hermes of Praxiteles, and the statue of Nike of Paionios.
• Archaeological Museum of Olympia - The Archaeological Museum of Olympia is among Greece’s most significant museums. Its exhibition showcases outstanding masterpieces from the rich history of the Olympic Games’ birthplace and thousands of years of art. The exhibits are arranged in chronological and thematic order, spanning from Prehistoric to Roman times. Visitors can view the sculptures from the temple of Zeus, the “Nike of Paionios,” and one of the most famous statues in art history, the “Hermes” of Praxiteles, which is possibly the only original, surviving statue of the esteemed sculptor.
