Embark on a journey across the renowned El Caminito del Rey trail. This scenic route stretches from the Guadalhorce-Guadalteba reservoir to the quaint town of El Chorro.
Our adventure begins in Seville, followed by a two-hour journey to our starting point at the Guadalhorce reservoir, nestled in the province of Malaga. The walk commences alongside the railway lines, leading us through the spectacular gorges of the Gaitanes and Gaitanejo. The route owes its name to a significant event in 1921 when King Alfonso XIII inaugurated the Conde de Guadalhorce dam and traversed the already established route. Thus, it came to be known as Caminito del Rey (King’s Footpath). Over time, due to neglect and absence of proper care, it evolved into Europe’s most perilous trail, resulting in multiple casualties. Our cautious expedition begins with our guide leading us to the trailhead near the Ardales town in Malaga. Following the exciting tour, we’ll enjoy a meal at a local bistro before making our way back to Seville in the evening.
