Sailing Serenity: A Wooden Boat Adventure on Lake Como
Drawn by the allure of Lake Como’s serene waters and historic charm, I embarked on a sailing adventure from Argegno. Join me as I recount the exhilarating journey aboard a wooden boat, complete with stunning vistas and a touch of luxury.
Setting Sail from Argegno
The moment I stepped onto the historic wooden boat at Argegno, I felt a sense of calm wash over me. The village itself, with its rich history and cinematic allure, set the perfect backdrop for what promised to be an unforgettable journey. As a marine biologist, I have always been drawn to the water, and Lake Como’s serene beauty was no exception. The boat, crafted entirely of wood by a local shipyard, exuded charm and character, making the act of sailing an experience in itself.
As we departed from the iconic village, the gentle lapping of the water against the hull was music to my ears. The open bar, stocked with high-quality Prosecco, added a touch of luxury to the adventure. Sipping on a glass of bubbly, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of exhilaration as we glided across the lake, the wind in my hair and the sun on my face.
Discovering Isola Comacina and Beyond
Our first stop was Isola Comacina, the only island on Lake Como. Known for its ease of bathing, the island was a popular spot for tourists, and I could see why. The crystal-clear waters beckoned, and I couldn’t resist taking a dip. Swimming in the lake, surrounded by the breathtaking landscape, was a refreshing experience that left me feeling invigorated.
Back on the boat, we continued our journey, passing by the stunning Villa La Cassinella. The villa, shrouded in mystery with its secretive pricing, was a sight to behold. As we sailed on, we were treated to views of Villa del Balbianello, a historical museum and film set for movies like Star Wars and 007 Casino Royale. Each villa we passed seemed to tell its own story, adding layers of intrigue to our voyage.
The Enchanting Gulf of Venus
As we approached the Gulf of Venus, the beauty of the lake reached its peak. The inlet, surrounding the village of Lenno, was a picturesque scene that seemed almost otherworldly. The tranquility of the water, coupled with the stunning views, created a sense of peace that was both calming and exhilarating.
Our journey eventually brought us back to Argegno, where we bid farewell to the boat and its crew. The experience had been nothing short of magical, a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. As I stepped off the boat, I felt a renewed sense of appreciation for the beauty of Lake Como and the joy of sailing. This journey was a reminder of why I fell in love with the water in the first place, and I left with memories that would last a lifetime.
