- Melissani Cave - Located just outside Sami in Kefalonia, Melissani Cave is one of Greece’s most stunning tourist spots. Inside the cave, there’s a picturesque lake surrounded by lush trees and forests. The cave has a unique B-shape, and centuries ago, the roof of one of its halls collapsed, allowing sunlight to stream in beautifully. The lake’s depth ranges from 20 to 30 meters. After a brief transfer, you can enjoy a boat ride on the lake, a natural wonder. Around seven rowing boats, each accommodating about 10 people, are available. Guides will explain the lake’s formation.
- Drogarati Cave - A must-see in Kefalonia, Drogarati Cave was discovered 300 years ago and opened to the public in 1963 after an earthquake revealed its entrance. This impressive cave features stunning stalactites and stalagmites and is estimated by speleologists to be around 150 million years old, making it a rare geological marvel. Note that there are approximately 150 steps down into the cave, with handrails installed, though some areas can be uneven and slippery.
- Myrtos Beach - Myrtos Beach is a top attraction in Kefalonia, located 29km north of Argostoli in a picturesque area surrounded by beautiful hills. It has gained international fame and has been voted the best beach in Greece multiple times!
- Koutavos Lagoon Argostoli - The Koutavos Lagoon is a fantastic nature reserve home to wildlife such as the Caretta Caretta turtle and various bird species. Situated near the head of Argostoli Bay, the town’s largest park is a shady forest of eucalyptus and pine trees, accessible by walking or cycling along the wide trail that circles the lagoon from the harbor front. Before the Drepano Bridge was built in 1813 to improve access to Argostoli from settlements across the bay, the lagoon was an almost impassable bog plagued by mosquitoes and malaria. A small islet in the lagoon’s center is off-limits to visitors as it serves as a nesting and feeding area for waterfowl.

Incredible Day Trip with a Local Who Knows The Best Spots in Cephalonia - I went on this tour with two family members and we were accompanied by two couples who were also traveling around Greece. We were in Europe for two weeks and had gone on about 10 scheduled tours; this was probably one of my favorites. Our driver, George, was very kind, knowledgeable, and a great driver. While he did not guide the actual tours in the Melissani Lake or Drogarati Cave himself (the Melissani lake has tour guides on boats, and the Drogorati Cave is self-guided), he was very helpful with driving us to the best lookout spots, making additional stops that he knew we would enjoy, educating us about the island of Cephalonia, and even pointing out local herbs (rosemary, sage, etc.) growing on the side of the road. George is a local and is very familiar with the area, driving us to some beautiful spots and beaches where we had time to walk around, relax, eat lunch, and swim. He always knew ways to make the tour group happier and shared some history and culture of the area, going above and beyond for his tour group. Be prepared for a good amount of driving with lots of stops in between, some of which on windy roads as this beautiful island is very hill-y; but as someone who gets motion sick in cars, I took a Dramamine and was fine. We shared our experience with our family members who did other tours during the day, and they were jealous of our experience. I HIGHLY recommend that you do not miss this experience... book this tour with George now!

Kefalonia Gems - We booked the Half Day Melissani Lake and Drogarati Cave Tour with Myrtos Swim for two through Viator in June. Our operator was Thalassa Travel Group. This was a great tour!
George was our van driver and we enjoyed his company. We started out at Drogarati Cave. Wow. Spectacular. There is a walking path through this huge cave, which makes it easy to explore without slippery feet. We spent awhile walking through the cave and then drove to Melissani Lake.
Another wow moment. This place is magical. We boarded our rowboat with our fellow tour group members and rode into the middle of the lake. Our guide was very gregarious and explained the geology of the lake to us. It was just amazingly beautiful.
We were supposed to go to Myrtos Beach to swim, but it was too choppy and rough to swim, so we detoured to Antisamos Beach. We spent about 1.5hrs at Antisamos Beach, which is an organized beach, swimming and relaxing on the sunbeds with drinks.
After the beach we went to a lookout spot that overlooked Myrtos Beach. YET ANOTHER WOW MOMENT. This beach was really something. I’m so glad we got to see the beach from the cliffs above. I can see why it’s such a great location to take amazing photographs. George passed out wine while we took pictures.
After enjoying the view, we loaded back into the van to go back to Argostoli. I really enjoyed the sights and swimming and would recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore the magic of Kefalonia.

Don't miss. Incredible half-day adventure. - Our guide was perfect: informative, humorous, efficient and clearly cared about taking good care of us. She made the whole trip a dream. The caves were unforgettable, and traveling in October? Can you say "no crowds"? Heaven.

Beautiful tour with amazing guide! - George our tour guide made a beautiful tour even more fun offering us a lot of unique details about the island, picking up fresh roadside herbs, taking us to hidden gems off the beaten path.
This tour was better than expected- the lake cave was unreal and swimming in the various beach locations was perfect. I wouldn’t recommend booking this with a solid end date as it went a couple hours over but very much worth it!
After George brought us a bottle of the local wine to dinner which was so thoughtful!

Beautiful beach and wonderful day in Kefalonia - Myrtos Beach is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen! I'm so glad we did the tour that included swimming, and not just seeing it from up high (which was very beautiful!). The line for the lake was 2 hrs long so we skipped it and George took us to another beach where there was a beach side restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious meal. The cave was nice and worth the visit. George was not the most talkative guide but was willing to help us have the most enjoyable experience on Kefalonia. It was a great day!

Not as advertised. - This was not at all as promised. We waited over an hour to spend 6 hours traveling around in a van and still not see all the sites. The tour guide barely said 10 words to us. I would never book with this company again.
The beach was beautiful but the surf was very dangerous and strong. The one cave we saw was cool but we had to pay to enter it. We also paid to enter the second cave but after waiting for an hour the group agreed to go back so we could eat and get back to our cruise. Terrible.

Disappointed - Hi
We recently went on this tour but we were very disappointed we were supposed to go to Myrtos beach but our driver took us to Pelagia Beach "Captain Corelli Mandolin" instead saying that he had a bad experience when he was a child and there is a rip there, he nearly drowned he chose not to take us there. We paid for our experience not his. We probably will not ever get this chance again and we were not given the chance to choose ourselves. He did not ask us if this is what we wanted to do.
Again very disappointed not getting what we paid for.
I await your reply.
Kind Regards

No time for Melissani Lake Tour. What did I pay for? - Extremely disappointed in the outcome of this tour.
Our tour started late and the air conditioning on the shuttle van was not operating at the time.
We first visited Drogarati Caves. It was a short wait to get in after we paid admission.
The 2nd stop, which was the main reason for the booking, was at Melissani Lake. Admission was held up with a 2 hour wait to get in. Our tour guide re-directed to Myrtos Beach, which was were only provided with one hour at the beach. We drove back and returned to Melissani Lake and were met with another long line. The tour was ended and we returned to the cruise ship port. So... we never got to see that main attraction and whole point of the tour.
Very disappointed that the tour group did not take into account the wait times at Melissani Lake, and go there first. The tour bus was extremely hot (38 degrees) with no air conditioning. My children grew very hot and frustrated after a long day (5 hours) spend inside the shuttle van.
