A Must see if in Sami - Beautiful cave with the most amazing water as this comes from the direct sunlight above. You enter following a queue that can be anything up to one and a half hours. Get there early to avoid this. We only queued for ten minutes. You get on a boat and you spend around 5 minutes with the rowing guide. It's all over before you know it but is a definite must while you are in Sami. If on the other side of the island I wouldn't bother for how long you are actually in the cave!

Myrtos Beach and Lake Melissanicon Patricia/Patrizia Tour - During our holiday in Kefalonia, we had the incredible opportunity to join a tour that took us to two of the most spectacular natural wonders of the island: Myrtos beach and Melissani caves. From the beginning, the tour proved to be an unforgettable experience, enriched by the presence of our Guide, Patrizia. Patrizia has proved to be an exceptional Pro, extremely prepared and incredibly friendly. His deep knowledge of the local history, geology and traditions of the island allowed us to appreciate every detail of these breathtaking places. During the trip to the beach of Myrtos, Patrizia told us fascinating stories and curiosities about the formation of the coast, conveying her enthusiasm and passion for the untouched nature of Kefalonia. Myrtos is simply breathtaking. The view from above, with the sea fading into endless shades of blue and the white sandy beach stretching at our feet, is a sight that remains etched in the mind forever. Thanks to Patrizia's advice, we could explore the less crowded areas of the beach, enjoying some relaxation in a corner of paradise. After visiting Myrtos, the tour took us to the magical Melissani caves. Patrizia guided us through this extraordinary underground cave system with such skill that we felt completely immersed in another dimension. The cave, with its crystal clear lake illuminated by sunlight filtering in from above, is one of the most impressive places I have ever seen. Patrizia enriched the experience with detailed explanations about the history and formation of the caves, making it all the more fascinating. In summary, this tour was one of the best moments of our stay in Kefalonia, thanks not only to the extraordinary beauty of the places visited, but also to the professionalism and friendliness of Patrizia. If you are planning a visit to Kefalonia, this tour is an absolute must, and I could not recommend a better Guide than Patrizia to accompany you on this unforgettable adventure.

To return - Beautiful island, where everything flows quietly and slowly. Breathtaking beaches, crystal clear water. We visited myrthos Bleach, gorgeous but beware of underwater currents if rough sea. We also visited lake mellissari, beautiful very suggestive

Very well organized and set times, I highly recommend - Beautiful beach, too bad there is little time but unfortunately with the cruise you have little time available and always fear of missing the ship

Beware the Delay at the Lake - The 2 deatinations were nice. However, the 2 hour wait at Melessani Lake reduced our time at Myrtos beach. There should have been some disclaimer about potential bottlenecks as we learned that this is a common occurence. It was also difficult to understand our tour guide as English was not her 1st language.

Nice caves and cool beach. Would have been nice to have more time. - Access to the caves was ok as I guess we were lucky and there wasntthat much of a queue as we did enter at 15h. The beach was nice as itsa nice area but it would have been nice to spend more. But that's because it's a ride away so you'll spend some time in the bus, unavoidable I'm afraid.

Nice attractions, poorly organized - The Melissani Cave lake is a cool attraction certainly worth seeing. You are in a small row boat with about a dozen people and the guides are friendly and cooperative with taking pictures. The whole ride is only about ten minutes though and if you have to wait in line for an extended period of time to get in then the whole experience may seem less worthwhile. In our case the travel company guides did a poor job timing things and we ended up waiting in line in the heat for over 90 minutes for the ten minute ride. There is a smallish gift shop and snack bar there while you wait that may entertain you for a short time but that wears out quickly. The traffic flow around the site is also challenging and our tour bus basically got stuck which meant we had no choice but to wait out the long lines. Had we started the tour on time from Argostoli the lines might not have been so long by the time we got there, which increased our level of frustration. As a result we never got to go Mrytos Beach at all. Instead we were taken to another nearby beach that was supposedly less crowded. Our time there was limited though as a result of waiting so long at the first stop so it ended up not being that enjoyable. I don’t fault the travel company for the long lines — that’s what you get during peak season, but I do fault them for being disorganized and not having better plans in place. The whole experience could have been managed much better.
