In the past, the large main chamber, called Chamber of Exaltation, was used for concerts from time to time as the cave’s acoustics are fantastic. So, don’t be shy and just try it; sing anything and feel like an opera singer.
- Melissani Cave - In 1963 a short tunnel was created to give visitors access to the lake. Rowing boats are waiting for you when you reach the lake at the end of the tunnel. By boat you will be taken over the lake to the closed part of the cave, passing the islet where the excavations had taken place. At the walls, there are Stalactites and flowstones with bizarre shaping, some with a resemblance to dolphins, as the boatman will point out, as dolphins play a role in mythology.
- Agia Efimia - Just 30 km from Argostoli and 7 km north of Sami, Agia Efimia is found on the East Coast of Kefalonia. With plenty of rocky coves to explore, you are a short drive (about 20 minutes) away from Myrtos beach, which is recognized worldwide for its beauty. Agia Efimia is a very pretty fishing village with a number of traditional Greek waterside cafes and tavernas running parallel to the sheltered marina. Although a small village, it benefits from restaurants, bakeries, ice cream cafes, supermarkets and a good selection of shops. A popular spot for yachting flotillas, you can enjoy a drink whilst watching the sailors moor up after a day cruising in the crystal clear Ionian Sea. This beautiful location is uncommercial and surrounded by sea and fir tree cloaked mountains.
- Myrtos Beach - Myrtos is one of the most famous Greek beaches and it’s also the island’s trademark. Myrtos is international every year awarded with GNTO’s blue flag. Certainly it will take your breath away with its wonderful combination of azure and green. Myrtos beach is located almost 30 kilometers far from Argostoli.
