Highlights
  • Mather Point - Scenic viewpoint along South Rim, popular for its canyon vistas
  • Maricopa Point - In addition to stunning vistas, Maricopa Point looks out over the former Orphan Lode Mine, claimed in 1891 by miner Dan Hogan. Originally mining copper, Hogan switched to uranium ore in the 1950s. Mining operations ended in 1967. Grand Canyon National Park acquired the property in 1987 but only began major environmental restoration in 2008
  • Powell Point - The Powell Memorial at this viewpoint commemorates the 1869 and 1871-72 exploratory trips down the Colorado River by Major John Wesley Powell and expedition crews. Stunning vistas can also be enjoyed from Powell Point.
  • Hopi Point - Hopi Point is one of the most popular viewpoints for watching the sunset and sunrise because of its wide vistas. The Colorado River comes into view to the west. Restrooms are available here.
  • Mohave Point - Another spectacular point for watching sunset and sunrise, Mohave Point also offers views of the Colorado River deep in the canyon below.
  • The Abyss - This viewpoint provides an almost vertical view down into the canyon, looking down into the Monument Creek drainage area where backpackers often camp next to Monument Creek or on a small beach along the Colorado River at Granite Rapids.
  • Monument Creek Vista - From this viewpoint the Greenway Trail begins, accommodating hikers, bicyclists, and visitors using wheelchairs. The trail meets Accessibility Guidelines for Outdoor Developed Areas. Much of the trail follows the 1912 alignment of Hermit Road. There are six overlooks, including Pima Point, in addition to multiple resting areas along the trail.
  • Pima Point - Pima Point is one of the best places on the rim to see and sometimes hear the river. The splash and grind of Granite Rapids below can be heard echoing up the canyon walls on quiet days. The Greenway Trail continues from here to Hermits Rest, allowing bicyclists and visitors using wheelchairs to share the path with pedestrians.
  • Hermit’s Rest - Mary Colter, one of Grand Canyon’s most famous architects, built Hermits Rest in 1914 to look like an old miner’s cabin, complete with a giant fireplace and front porch. Today Hermits Rest has a gift shop and small snack bar. Restrooms are available here. The Hermit Trail, winding steeply down into the canyon, begins about 0.5 miles, 0.8 km west of Hermits Rest.
  • South Kaibab Trail - The South Kaibab Trail offers wonderful views and can be adapted for folks of varying abilities!

A Must Book Trip!! - This tour was a highlight of our family trip to the southwest US. Matt shared his vast knowledge of the canyon - history, rock formations, plants, animals - in an easy to understand manner. He graciously answered all of our questions, let us set the pace of the hike, and made a delicious lunch about half way thru. We saw so much of the canyon from different angles and loved the hike into (and out of) the canyon. Matt also took lots of family photos - so fun to have pictures with all of us and the canyon as our backdrop. We are a family of six - the children are ages 15-21.

Incredible Must-Do Experience - Matt was such a wealth of information and one of the best tour guides we've had in all of our family travels throughout the western hemisphere. From our first interaction through a phone call on what to expect, where to meet, and options for the tour through the very last stop to see a 3D model of the canyon and where we hiked, Matt shared his vast knowledge in an easy to understand manner. He was patient with our myriad of questions - in fact, he welcomed them. He let us set the pace and we never felt rushed - and we hit every point we hoped (and then some!). Lunch was delicious, too. Matt willingly took lots of pictures of us as a family. An incredible must-do experience.

Didn't know what to expect from the GC after coming from Zion and other areas but wow!!! We had the best time!! It was amazing. Matthew was super knowledgable. We had an outstanding hike and also learned things along the way. With three teens, he kept them totally interested throughout. Outstanding hike, loved everything about it.

Remarkable Day in the Grand Canyon - Our full day Grand Canyon adventure with Matt was amazing! There are no adequate words to describe this enchanting place. Matt was super knowledgeable about the landscape and an incredible photographer, capturing momentous family photos! He was patient with my 3 kids and all of their (and my) Grand Canyon questions! And let’s not forget about the gourmet lunch Matt prepared- he’s quite the cook! 10 out of 10 would recommend Good Trip Adventures! In fact, I’ll be reaching out to them for our next Western adventure all thanks to our day with Matt.

SPECIAL DAY - Sharing the day with Bryce was so special. He is so knowledgeable, enthusiastic, courteous, and thoughtful! We had so many questions to ask him and he filled us in on so much history, geology, and points of interest we would have missed on our own. We enjoyed our picnic lunch, including Birthday cupcakes! We highly recommend this tour and especially our tour guide, Bryce.

A trip of beauty - The trip was amazing. Our guide Matt Bloomfield shared his extensive knowledge of geology with us throughout the trip. As seniors we were a bit hesitant. Matt made us comfortable and listened and answered all our questions honestly. The picnic lunch was exquisite. We would certainly repeat this trip and request Matt again.
