Lake Sevan, a freshwater body of water situated within the Armenian Highland, is the biggest lake found in the Caucasus. We’ll explore Sevanavank - a monastery located on the northwest shoreline of Lake Sevan, which is positioned on the Sevan peninsula that was once a diminutive island.
Our journey will further lead us to the Tavush region of Armenia - specifically the quaint resort town of Dilijan. We’ll stop by Haghartsin Monastery which was erected during the 10th-13th centuries, predominantly under the support of the Bagratuni dynasty. Our next visit will be to Goshavank - a 12th-13th century monastery complex in the village of Gosh. Historically, Goshavank is a celebrated cultural, educational, and religious hub of medieval Armenia, often referred to as a seminary or university in historical texts. We’ll culminate our expedition by returning to Yerevan.
