Excellent day out - It takes a lot of hard work and research to put these trips together and Rod goes above and beyond to make your day memorable. I was on this trip to research my father and my uncle's movements in the first world war and Rod came up trumps. Which made my day very emotional and memorable. Thanks to Rod now I have an insight to what my father and uncle went through on the Somme. If ever I need to come back I will definitely do another trip with him. Maybe just a polite bit of advice don't forget to tip after all he drives all that way, He's very knowledgeable of everything and you will always come back knowing more about your relatives then you did.

A great day touring the Battlefields - Rod was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable. He took us to my great great grandfathers grave yard which wasn’t part of the scheduled tour. Would highly recommend

We will never forget! - It was a very emotional journey & made me think of the courageous men who fought for our freedom. I was very impressed by the work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. I was particularly impressed by Jackie, our tour leader and driver. She had a fabulous rapport with the passengers and was extremely knowledgeable.

One Day Tour of the Somme Battlefield - Rod is a fabulous tour guide. Apart from what you'd expect to learn about military tactics and conduct of the war, we learned great deal from him about the bigger picture, including how the Franco-Prussian war, northern European geology, and the imperial powers' competition to loot Africa all played their part. We packed a tremendous amount into 1 day - excellent value for money. Particular highlights for me were Mametz Wood where the trees have reclaimed the battle-scarred land and the sunken lane near Hawthorn Ridge where Malins filmed.

Unforgettable - I was met at the railway station and offered a choice of either the Somme tour or Ieper as I had been on the Belgian tour I chose the Somme with Jackie and a lovely couple from Canada . We saw the CWGC at work near Arras (very interesting) before a great Somme tour the sights especially Thiepval were quite simply unforgettable the tour guide was brilliant after a really pleasant lunch which she provided we then made our way to Vimy Ridge which was probably the highlight of the day on our way back we saw a huge French cemetery and the final resting place of thousands of brave Germans. After dropping our Canadian friends back at the station Jackie was good enough to run me to the Arras memorial which I wanted to visit but don’t think I would have found on my own a really interesting experience bringing an end to a really unforgettable day any time you are in the area I would thoroughly recommend using this company I can personally say you will not be disappointed thanks once again you can rest assured I will never forget the day .

Enjoyable journey through time - I had a very enjoyable trip but through no fault of mine two fellow travellers from Canada really wanted to visit Vimy so the timetable was changed I had a trip to Vimy booked the day after so with the uncertainty with the weather cancelled as I didn’t see the point of repeating what I had seen .With such a late cancellation I received no refund but was wondering if you can see why I cancelled and maybe reconsider as the trip to Vimy wasn’t on the agenda of the advertised trip and obviously missed seeing some of the Somme .
