The surfing season in Arugam Bay typically runs from April to October, during the country’s dry season, when the prevailing winds create ideal conditions for surfing. During this period, the bay receives consistent swells, with waves suitable for beginners to advanced surfers.

Arugam Bay offers a variety of breaks, catering to different skill levels. The main point break, called ‘Main Point,’ is located just a short walk from the town and is renowned for its long, smooth right-hand waves that can extend up to 400 meters. This wave is more suitable for experienced surfers, as it can get quite powerful and fast.

For those new to surfing or looking for smaller waves, ‘Whiskey Point’ is an excellent option. It provides gentler, beginner-friendly waves that are perfect for learning or improving your skills.
