Passing beneath the Heim and Kersten glaciers, the path leads to the Karanga valley, the last stop for fresh water before the summit. The terrain becomes scree as the route continues through arid and desolate land towards Barafu Camp.

Barafu Camp (4640m) To Uhuru Peak (5895m) & Down To Millennium Camp (3790m)
Kilimanjaro National Park - The ascent to the summit begins very early in the morning (around midnight). This section is the most mentally and physically demanding part of the trek. The wind and cold at this elevation and time can be intense. The climb is done in darkness for several hours with frequent, short breaks. Near Stella Point (18,900 ft), a breathtaking sunrise over Mawenzi Peak awaits. Finally, hikers reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the African continent.
After the summit, the descent continues directly to the Mweka Hut campsite, with a stop at Barafu for lunch. The trail is rocky and can be tough on the knees; trekking poles are beneficial. Mweka Camp is located in the upper forest, where mist or rain is common in the late afternoon. In the evening, the last dinner on the mountain is enjoyed, followed by a well-deserved rest.
Trek Millennium Camp (3790m) To Mweka Gate (1630m)
Kilimanjaro National Park - On the final day, the descent continues to Mweka Gate, where summit certificates are collected. At lower elevations, conditions can be wet and muddy. From the gate, the journey continues for another hour to Mweka Village. A vehicle will be waiting at Mweka Village to transport hikers back to Moshi Town.
