Highlights

Arusha - Tarangire National Park:

Tarangire National Park - Following a morning safari briefing and a roughly two-hour drive, you’ll reach Tarangire National Park. The park’s giant baobab trees, bush savannah, and seasonal marshes contribute to its natural beauty. It’s renowned as one of the top spots to observe elephants up close. Additionally, the park hosts buffaloes, zebras, and wildebeests, often trailed by predators like lions. While leopards are occasionally seen, cheetahs are rare. From the open roof of your safari vehicle, you can take in the scenery and watch the wildlife. In the late afternoon, you’ll depart the park and head to Tarangire Osupuko Lodge for an overnight stay.

Cultural Heritage Centre - Situated in Arusha, Tanzania, the Arusha Cultural Heritage Centre showcases the history and culture of over 120 Tanzanian tribes in one location. The center features various carvings, gemstones, artifacts, clothing, and books.

Lake Manyara National Park:

Lake Manyara National Park - After breakfast, you’ll journey from the Tarangire Area to Lake Manyara National Park. The park is famous for its 400+ bird species, primate-filled forests, and grassy plains. A significant portion of the park is occupied by the alkaline Lake Manyara, a seasonal breeding ground for large flamingo colonies and other waterfowl. The park also houses giraffes, hippos, wildebeests, impalas, and groups of noisy monkeys and baboons. Following an extensive game drive, you’ll head to Eileen’s Trees Inn for an overnight stay.

Serengeti National Park:

Serengeti National Park - After an early breakfast, you’ll set off for the world-renowned Serengeti National Park. The drive, though lengthy, is spectacular and unforgettable for first-time visitors. As you venture deeper into the Serengeti, you’ll understand why its name means “endless plains” in the local language. Spanning 6,900 sq. miles (18,000 sq. km), the plains stretch to the horizon, challenging your sense of distance. The park is home to the Great Migration, with 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and various antelopes. It’s also a prime location for spotting Big Cats and large predators, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas, with many famous river crossing scenes filmed here.

Full Day at Serengeti National Park:

Serengeti National Park - Spend the entire day game viewing in Serengeti National Park. The areas you visit will depend on the location of the migrating herds. Predators, such as lions, leopards (in acacia trees), and cheetahs, typically follow the herds. During the short rainy season in November and December, the herds move from the northern hills to the southern plains. In the longer rainy season from April to June, they return north. Since the migration depends on annual rainfall, the herds’ locations vary yearly, but your guide will know where to find them. You’ll spend another night at Embalakai Tented Camp on a Full Board basis.

Serengeti National Park – Karatu – Coffee Walk:

Karatu - On your way out of the park, you’ll enjoy more game viewing before leaving Serengeti National Park in the early afternoon to continue to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Upon reaching the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater, you’ll be treated to a breathtaking view of the giant caldera below. You’ll then drive to Karatu in the Ngorongoro highlands, where you’ll join a coffee plantation walk to learn about coffee cultivation and processing. You’ll spend the night at Hhando Coffee Lodge on a Full Board basis.

Karatu – Ngorongoro Crater – Karatu Area:

Ngorongoro Crater - Rise and shine! After an early breakfast, you’ll head back to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the crater. This massive collapsed volcano is home to over 25,000 mammals, including the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard – as well as spotted hyenas, rare wild dogs, and over 500 bird species. After an extensive game drive and a picnic lunch, you’ll leave the caldera in the afternoon and return to Hhando Coffee Lodge for another night.

Karatu - Drive Back to Arusha:

Arusha - After a leisurely breakfast, you’ll travel back to Arusha, arriving around midday. You’ll be dropped off in the city center or at the airport.

Fantastic safari - We are a couple from Italy and can highly recommend the Arusha based company Advaark Ltd. and the manager Philemon. We did a wonderful one week safari in the Serengeti and Tarangire national park, manyara lake, Ngorongoro crater etc. He organized the entire trip in every detail following exactly our needs and wishes. Especially we can recommend the guide and driver Donatus. He was a really special guy and we became friends after very short time. Not only his notions about the regions and nature where exceptional, he never hesitated to realize all our special wishes and to give us every thinkable help and information . He did everything possible to drive us so close as possible to all interesting sites and animals, his unbelieavable good eyes allowed him to discover even little animals from such al long distance we could not even imagine before that it would be possible. At the end everything was perfect and an unforgettable life experience. Thank you so much Herta and Claudio

You might not find a safer or more beautiful place to travel! - Hands-down, this was the trip of a lifetime. Aardvark Exp. was exceptionally responsive, trustworthy and informative. All of our pre-travel questions were answered promptly, and we had no worries that the Aardvark team would be at the airport waiting for us. The drivers were very professional, very safe on the road and extremely informative. Everyone we encountered spoke English and greeted us with a smile. Philemon took care of everything for our family (3 children ages 11 to 6) from hotel accommodations to boxed lunches (SO GOOD!) to transportation to and from the airport. The lodges/tents that we stayed in were some of the nicest places I've ever been in my life! Amazingly beautiful, hot showers, bottled water, pool, air conditioning, bug spray if needed, and the staff! Oh my the staff were fantastic everywhere we went, big smiles, songs, helping hands and very friendly. We always felt safe and never worried about our belongings being stolen or lost (except for a rogue baboon or two). Aardvark Expeditions is highly recommended for all of your travel needs in Tanzania! You will not be disappointed.

Family Safari with Aardvark Expedition - Oh my goodness! From the booking date of this safari, prompt responses to multiple questions, pick up at JRO airport, 7 days packed with the most spectacular animals, birds, trees, and scenic drives through markets and countryside, Aardvark Expeditions and Philemon gave their best for our family gathering of 17. Philemon addressed the diet restrictions of a grandchild with celiac. Our 3 drivers, Uriel, Bryson, and Moses were absolutely the BEST and well trained in knowledge of the animals and terrain. They made sure the 9 children, ages 4-16, and adults had all the time needed to observe and photo shoot action packed days filled with elephants, lions, cheetahs, leopards, zebras, rhino’s, hippos, baboons, Cape buffalo, Dic dik’s, many birds of all kinds, ostrich’s, lilac breasted rollers and secretary birds! The night lodges were located in scenic countryside and were upper level comfortable. The chefs provided Many food selections for all ages. Our family has forever happy experiences of this safari with Aardvark Expeditions. Philemon was a pleasure to work with.

The Best Tour Company in Tanzania! - I can unequivocally say that Aardvark Expeditions is the BEST Safari option money can buy! We just finished a 7 day safari with a group of 17 family members! The trip was absolutely amazing from the pick-up at the airport to the final dropoff! The guides (Moses, Uriel, Brayson) were fantastic guides. They were super friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. Their knowledge extended much beyond the wildlife and included geology, history and politics. All three of them spoke fantastic English. They were SUPER patient with our group of 17 which included 9 kids! I am convinced these guys are some of the safest drivers in Tanzania! Many of the other tour companies had drivers that were clearly driving way too fast and out of control. We saw the ENTIRE big 5 including multiple leopards, hunting cheetahs, and even 4 Black Rhinos! Before I booked with Philemon , I researched many tour companies and got quotes from at least 5 different companies. The price was unbeatable compared to the US and European based travel agents that apparently DOUBLE the price of the tour for their commission. The booking process was super easy! The lodges we stayed at were top tier lodges with unbelievable service, food, professionalism and views! We stayed at Mawe Mawe, Embalakai, Rhino Lodge, And Marera Valley Lodge. I want to personally thank Philemon and the Aardvark team for the most fantastic family trip of a lifetime!

Excellent experience! - We were very pleased with the service we received from Philemon at Aardvark Expeditions. We booked a 7-day safari with visits to Tarangire, Manyarra, Serengeti and Ngorongoro. Because our stay in Tanzania was longer than that, we relied on Philemon to book extra accommodation at the beginning and end of our trip. He was flexible enough to make changes to the schedule to accommodate us. We enjoyed the company of our driver/guide and were able to see most of the animals one expects to see in these game parks. The accommodations and meals provided were excellent bearing in mind the locations we visited. A couple of our stays were in truly luxurious surroundings. Others brought us as close to nature as we would probably care to be! When we found we needed extra cash, our credit card was able to provide a cash advance at every ATM we tried in Arusha and Karatu. You will find yourself in good hands with Philemon and Aardvark Expeditions.
