Day trip from arusha - We really enjoyed the trip and would recommend it. Our guide Twalub was amazing and could tell us a lot about the materuni village and the vegetations around. The waterfall was beautiful. The coffee tour was great as well, the local people explained a lot about the different process steps and we made our own coffee to try. The tasty lunch in the village was included to. The chemka hot springs are a really relaxing place to be. The drive to get there is quite adventurous, but the bumpy african roads were no problem for our guide.

Best experience - --- Visiting Materuni Waterfalls was an absolutely breathtaking experience! The natural beauty of the falls is truly stunning, surrounded by lush greenery that creates a serene and picturesque environment. The hike to the waterfall is both invigorating and rewarding, offering stunning views at every turn. One of the highlights of our visit was learning about the coffee-making process from the locals. It was fascinating to see how coffee is grown, harvested, and prepared, and tasting the freshly brewed coffee was a real treat. The rich flavors and the aroma were simply unforgettable. We also enjoyed a delicious lunch featuring local cuisine. Every dish was bursting with authentic flavors and made with fresh, local ingredients, making for a delightful culinary experience. A special shoutout to Mr. T, who made the entire day spectacular. His warmth, knowledge, and friendliness truly enhanced our visit. He went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable and enjoyable time. Overall, Materuni Waterfalls is a must-visit for anyone seeking natural beauty, cultural insights, and a touch of adventure. Highly recommended!

Waterfall &coffee with a twist - We had an unexpectedly great time today at Materuni village, visiting the waterfall and having a coffee making experience with the local tribe. We weren't sure what to do with our extra day in Arusha after the safari, but we have absolutely no regrets choosing this experience. The trek to the waterfall is beautiful, not difficult, just challenging enough to make the waterfall even more interesting. Our lovely guide, Twaha, showed us a lot of plants we weren't familiar with, and even explained to us how the tribe use some of them - in fascinating ways, I might add. The walk was lovely and reaching the waterfall was even more so - what a beauty. We recharged our batteries with some splashes, Twaha took some great pictures and videos of us - he's super talented!, and we headed back to make some coffee! What an experience... they have their unique way of storytelling of how they grow it and make their own coffee there, using their methods, while singing and dancing and involving you in the process. I'm not going to divulge more, as you need to go live it, it'stotally worth it even if you've had other coffee making experiences! The result was a delicious and smooth cup of coffee, after which you head to lunch made by the women of the chagga tribe. We had a wonderful experience, and the people were lovely and really keen on giving you the best they had. We even got a glimpse of the top of Kilimanjaro along the way! We're glad we choose Suricata once again for another great Tanzanian experience!

Excellent day trip from Arusha - For those looking for an immersive experience in the local culture while still enjoying the natural beauty of Tanzania, this is the perfect day trip. After a 2h drive from Arusha, we reached Materuni village high up in the mountains with vistas to mount Kilimandjaro. We hiked for 45 min to the stunning Materuni waterfall. Once back in the village we were treated by the locals to a real show about coffee making, followed by a delicious lunch. Our guide Twaha was very knowledgeable, friendly and an excellent photographer (he took some amazing photos of us at the main landmarks). Highly recommend trip! (NB: We skipped the hot springs since we didn't bring swim suits)

Culture + Paradise - At the beginning you drive towards Materuni where you reach the waterfall after a manageable hike. Sturdy shoes (no flip-flops) are an advantage. After the hike you go back to the locals, where you prepare coffee, which is home-grown. You are involved in the preparation and the locals turn the preparation into an unforgettable show. After you have enjoyed the coffee there is food, which is also suitable for vegetarians. Afterwards you drive to the Chemka Hotsprings. A paradise somewhere in the middle of nowhere. There is even a rope swing. 10/10!
