Ngorongoro Crater, a Wildlife Fishbowl, Including Black Rhino, Lions, Buffalo, and Hippo
Ngorongoro Crater - The Ngorongoro Crater is a wildlife haven, the hollowed-out remains of a shield volcano that once stood taller than Mount Kilimanjaro. It erupted two million years ago, creating the 21-kilometer-wide national park we admire today.
The main attraction of the Ngorongoro Crater is the rare black rhino population of over fifty individuals, supported by a year-round water supply and lush vegetation due to the volcanic soil. It also hosts one of the densest predator populations in the world, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard.
Lunch will be enjoyed at a picnic site beside a hippo pool, allowing you to dine next to sleeping hippos, an incredible experience!
The Ngorongoro Crater is a must-visit for anyone wanting to see all of the Big Five: leopard, rhino, buffalo, lion, and elephant.
Tarangire National Park: Elephants, Lions, Leopards, Cheetahs, and More, Before a Transfer to Arusha
Tarangire National Park - This park is often a favorite on the northern safari circuit outside of the Serengeti, with abundant wildlife around every corner.
Thanks to a diverse topography that supports various plant and tree species, a wide array of herbivores is attracted to the area. This is why Tarangire National Park is known as the “Home of the Elephants” in Tanzania, along with many other species, including buffalo, eland, gemsbok, zebra, and wildebeest. Naturally, this attracts predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, caracals, servals, and jackals.
After visiting Tarangire National Park, you will depart in the afternoon for a transfer back to the airport, either to catch a flight to Zanzibar or an international flight elsewhere, or we will drop you off at your hotel in Arusha or Moshi.
