Tarangire National Park - In the morning, transfer to Arusha airport for a flight to Tarangire. (Flight departs at 08:00 am and arrives at 8:20 am – Auric Air) Once in Tarangire, enjoy a full day of game drives until evening, then return to the lodge.
Located slightly off the main safari route, Tarangire National Park is a charming and tranquil park in Northern Tanzania, renowned for its elephant migration, birdwatching, and authentic safari atmosphere. Many travelers either skip Tarangire or only visit for a few hours, leaving parts of the park largely untouched.
Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park - After breakfast, travel to Tarangire National Park. Enjoy a morning walking safari with an armed ranger, followed by an afternoon game drive. In the evening, return to the lodge.
The park is home to herds of up to 300 elephants that dig the dry riverbed for underground streams. It boasts the highest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem, offering a feast for predators. It’s also the only place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope like the stately fringe-eared oryx and the unique long-necked gerenuk are regularly seen.
Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, depart from Kuro airstrip to Serengeti National Park (flight departs at 08:15 am and arrives at 09:30 am), then head to central Serengeti for a full day of game drives. In the evening, return to the camp/lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park, also a world heritage site and recently named a 7th worldwide wonder, the Serengeti is famous for its annual migration. Around six million hooves pound the open plains as over 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelles join the wildebeest in their search for fresh grazing. Even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers some of Africa’s most thrilling game-viewing experiences, with large herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephants and giraffes, and thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala, and Grant’s gazelle.
Central Seronera (Migration Viewing)
Seronera - Enjoy breakfast at the lodge, then embark on a full day of game drives in the Serengeti National Park. Try to follow and observe the great migration (in the west or central part) and return to the lodge/tented camp in the late afternoon.
Serengeti National Park is renowned for its healthy population of resident wildlife, particularly the “big five,” named for the five most coveted trophies by hunters: Lion: the Serengeti is believed to have the largest lion population in Africa, partly due to the abundance of prey species. More than 3,000 lions inhabit this ecosystem. African Leopard: these elusive predators are often seen in the Seronera region but are present throughout the park, with a population of around 1,000. African Elephant.
Central Seronera (Migration Viewing)
Seronera - After breakfast at the lodge, embark on a full day of game viewing. In the late afternoon, travel to central Serengeti (Seronera).
A million wildebeest, each driven by the same ancient rhythm, fulfill their instinctive role in the inescapable cycle of life: a frenzied three-week period of territorial conquests and mating; survival of the fittest as 40 km (25 miles) long columns plunge through crocodile-infested waters during the annual northward exodus; replenishing the species in a brief population explosion that produces over 8,000 calves daily before the 1,000 km (600 miles) pilgrimage begins anew.
Serengeti - Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara - After breakfast, enjoy a game drive in the Serengeti to the Seronera Airstrip for your flight to Lake Manyara. (Flight departs at 11:00 am and arrives at 11:45 am). Arrive in the afternoon for lunch, followed by an evening game drive, then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Manyara offers an excellent introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife, with over 400 species recorded. Even first-time visitors to Africa might expect to see 100 of these in a single day. Inland of the floodplain, a narrow belt of acacia woodland is the favored habitat of Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions and impressively tusked elephants.
Ngorongoro Crater Tour
Ngorongoro Crater - After breakfast, embark on a morning game drive to Ngorongoro for a full day crater tour with picnic lunch boxes.
The jewel in Ngorongoro’s crown is a deep, volcanic crater, the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world. Approximately 20 km across, 600 meters deep, and 300 sq km in area, the Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder. Visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the crater’s main features. A large number of flamingos, hippos, and other water birds can usually be seen here.
Ngorongoro Rim Walk – Departure
Ngorongoro Crater - Enjoy breakfast at the lodge/camp, then embark on a crater rim walk. In the afternoon, drive to Manyara airstrip for a flight back to Arusha/Kilimanjaro International airport to connect with your flight home. (Flight departs at 15:25 and arrives at 17:00)
The Ngorongoro Crater Rim walk is an excellent way to stretch your legs without committing to a strenuous walk or trek after several days of wildlife viewing. It allows you to see tracks and signs and experience the isolation of trekking in the African Bush. An expert guide and armed ranger will accompany you during the walk to ensure your safety from dangerous wildlife. To start your Ngorongoro Crater Rim hike, drive to the starting point. The walk follows the Western rim of the Crater past the spectacular Oloirobi viewpoint. Initially, there are patches of forest, which later open up into grassland. There are stunning views down into the Crater on your right as you walk, and more breathtaking views emerge to your left towards Olduvai Gorge, the Serengeti, and the Gol mountains. This is an easy walk with no steep climbs, just a few gentle slopes. It lasts about 1 – 2.5 hours and can be enjoyed at any time of day, though it is advisable to avoid the midday heat. A good time would be either early morning or in the evening after game viewing.
