Highlights
  • EMEELT - Emeelt is situated just outside the main city. It’s a large industrial zone where visitors can observe various aspects of Ulaanbaatar. The journey takes 3 hours and 30 minutes.

  • Urikhan - One of Mongolia’s first modern rest stops, featuring restrooms, a coffee shop, a restaurant, and a store. Guests will have 30 minutes of free time here.

  • Elsen Tasarkhai - At the entrance to the Semi-Gobi area, we will pause at a rest stop for a break.

  • For lunch, we will visit a nomadic Mongolian family.

  • Next, we will head to the sand dunes of Elsen Tasarkhai (the local name for Semi-Gobi), where guests can ride two-humped Bactrian camels around the dunes.

  • In Semi-Gobi, travelers can enjoy hiking and exploring various sand dunes and small desert forests in between.

  • Finally, we will drive to Kharkhorum. In Kharkhorum, we will visit the main museum and then the Erdene Zuu Monastery.

  • Khugnu Gobi - Hugune Tarani is a Buddhist monastery located in the national park. We will visit the monastery and explore the area, where some may choose to meditate or pray.

  • From here, our trip concludes, and we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar, which will take around 3 hours.

  • Kharkhorin - Kharkhorin, with a population of 20,000, is becoming one of Mongolia’s most vibrant towns.

  • Our first stop will be the Kharkhorum Museum, a very informative small museum.

So fortunate to have found this excellent guide! - This guide is a real gem: knowledgeable in Mongolian history, kind, eager to please, flexible, willing to customize your tour, fluent in English, enthusiastic - the whole package. I’m a UN employee who was on mission, a woman touring alone. I did my homework, asked local advice, and sought the perfect tour guide - got lucky with Iggy. Strong recommendation. If I have the good fortune of returning to Mongolia, I’ll custom-plan a tour of both Ulaanbaatar and backwoods Mongolia with this guide. He arrived in an impeccably clean Lexus and I was lucky to have arranged a private tour, such that I could spend as much or as little time at each site.

An educational tour of Mongolia. - Our Iggy was a fantastic guy! A Mongolian educated in USA, his knowledge of both Mongolia and western countries helped us to understand great deal of geography and cultural differences. The best guide of 4 we had in our Mongolia trip. Highly recommended.

A superlative experience from beginning to end - It was a long drive out but the guide, Iggy, is super interesting and knowledgable about Mongolian history and culture. The host family and camel guide is also great, although I wish we could have shared a common language. That said, we did somehow communicate and had a few laughs together. All in all a superlative experience.

Mongolia at its finest... - Iggy my guide and my driver made this trip all the more special. We chatted non-stop all day long about a variety of different topics. He was more than happy to stop to take photos of things that I noticed while driving. The camel ride and visit to the nomadic family were a lovely cultural experience. We were able to visit the ancient Mongolian capital city of Kharkorin which was a true highlight.

A day to remember - This is a 12 hour + trip that takes you to sand dunes and to the Khustai National Park. We had a great time, since we saw many different animals including wild horses, went on a camel ride, ate great food at a yurt and had a great driver -guide. Iggy was very helpful and knowledgeable. We recommend this day trip, since you go through amazing landscapes and see many things in a short time.
