Highlights
  • Blue Ridge Parkway - As we drive along the parkway, you’ll notice spots on the road where you can pull your vehicle to the side. These overlooks are designed to spotlight the mountains’ most scenic vistas. There are over 200 of them along the whole Blue Ridge Parkway!

Each one features a large wooden sign that lists the name of the mountain or ridge you’re looking at, and your current elevation. It’s nice to give a little personal touch to the otherwise anonymous and similar-looking mountains that you drive through.

Blue Ridge Parkway self tour guide - Whilst the Blue Ridge Parkway is awesome in itself, this narrated guide is just brilliant with recommendations on which out looks to stop at, stories etc adds that extra dimension. Making use of technology that triggers the next update by your location on the Parkway also adds that extra element Also a great narrator with a voice that doesn't annoy you after 5 mins 😉

Blue Ridge Parkway - Amazing views and look overs. Unfortunately the inn, gift shops and toilets en route were closed! We will hopefully get the chance or do the Northern half do the route in future (our starting point was Asheville).

Simplicity:A Southern Blue Ridge Experience - We enjoyed the stories and tidbits about the Blue Ridge as we were traveling. It also pointed out small details about some of the overlooks that we would not have known. Having grown up near the Blue Ridge, there wasn’t a whole lot we haven’t seen but the tucked away parts that was shared on the app was worth the purchase. Like the tv tower on top of a high ridge which we couldn’t see because of clouds covering it and the small wooden walkway in the Taylor Forest. That did make the experience more immersive. I liked that it gave alternate things to view off the beaten place so to speak.

Beautiful day bad experience! - After spending 2 wonderful night glamping we were excited about our self guided audio tour starting in Asheville. The audio started and we heard 3 points of interest. We reached out twice by phone for help. The audio cut out constantly. Keep getting message GPS not connecting/unavailable. Would not recommend.

Once the app is loaded and paid for, no help and no tour, and no refund yet, either! - My husband and I carved out 4 hours for this audio tour, but the app failed to open. Customer service put us in a loop with other 'outsourced' agents, and we never got the app to work. at one point, the agent asked us to go inside out pick up point and reach out to them...the Blue Ridge agents had no idea what we were talking about, apparently, the Viator folks didn't know either.
