Additional Information

Join the Flying Bike guides for an electronic bike expedition through Asheville’s famed River Arts District (RAD). You’ll encounter local artisans and enjoy an up-close view of their artistic processes. This tour spans roughly 3 hours, leading you away from the usual touristic spots and along cycling paths and greenways by the tranquil French Broad River.

The journey’s first stop is at The Marquee, a gigantic marketplace presenting curated vendors from the nearby region and further afield. The second halt will be at Small Batch Glass, offering insight into the steps to create a unique piece of glasswork. Our final destination before returning to our base is the New Belgium Brewery, where you can enjoy a refreshing beer and a satisfying meal from a food truck.

*Kindly note that food and beverage costs are not included in the tour pricings, but can be obtained separately.

  • The electric bikes will take all of the hard work out of your ride. We routinely have riders that span the spectrum of age and fitness. The main requirement is that you be coordinated and fit enough to balance a 55-pound bike. A training and practice session is provided at the start of each tour. For people who would like to go on the tour but cannot balance a bike, it is possible to arrange a ride on the back of one of our stretch cargo bikes that will be driven by another person in your party.
  • Legally, you must be 16 years or older to operate an electric bike. Guides reserve the right to request proof of age of any rider. Riders should also be at least 5 feet tall to operate their own bike. Guests younger than 16 may ride as a passenger with an adult in their group on the back of one of our cargo bikes or in a child seat (for children ages 1-6 or up to 48.5 pounds).
  • Tours are subject to favorable weather conditions. If there is light rain in the forecast but none at the start of the tour, we will decide together at the time of the tour whether to ride. We will provide rain ponchos and rain covers for the bike storage bags to protect your belongings. If canceled due to poor weather, you will be given the option of an alternative date or a full refund.
  • Pets are not allowed on tours, please contact us with any questions or concerns.

Flying Bike fun! - My husband and I had a great time on the River Arts District tour with our guide, Peter. He was thorough, informative, and hilarious! We had never ridden e-bikes before and it was well worth the experience! The Flying Bike communicated well and clearly. We would definitely recommend them!

Must do while in Asheville - My husband, ten year old and I loved our bike tour with Brian. He was fun, educational and treated us like family. We saw so much of the River Arts district but still had plenty of stops along the way. We are avid travelers and this has been one of the top tours we have taken. Would recommend to anyone!

A great way to experience Asheville's River Arts District - Note- the "Drop Down" on Trip Advisor did not give the option to select what I purchased. I rented a traditional bicycle not a "Electric Bike". I rented the 2 hour option and had a great time riding along the river with my wife. The bicycle was surprisingly smooth and fast for the style of bicycle provided. The employees running The Flying Bike were very well versed and competent. Note 2- The associate offered me a phone attachment at no extra charge to aid in navigating; I declined. As a former Marine and Police Officer I only needed to take a quick look at the map they the provided and that is all a person like me would need. I got off track while returning back to the building.
