A Family Adventure: Exploring Tangier and Asilah with Kids
Eager to explore the vibrant culture and history of Morocco, I embarked on a family-friendly adventure to Tangier and Asilah. Join me as I recount our day filled with exploration, learning, and unforgettable experiences.
Setting Sail from Tarifa
Our adventure began with a short and comfortable ferry ride from Tarifa, a journey that set the tone for the day. As a family, we love the excitement of traveling by sea, and this ferry ride was no exception. The kids were thrilled to watch the waves and spot the occasional dolphin, while I took a moment to relax and enjoy the fresh sea breeze. The ferry was well-equipped, making the journey smooth and enjoyable for everyone.
Upon arrival in Tangier, we were greeted by our private guide and driver, who were both incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They made us feel welcome and ensured that our day would be filled with memorable experiences. The kids were immediately drawn to the vibrant atmosphere of Tangier, with its bustling streets and colorful markets.
Exploring Tangier’s Rich History
Our first stop was the Tangier Casbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that captivated us with its rich history and stunning architecture. The kids were fascinated by the stories of ancient times, and our guide did a fantastic job of bringing the past to life. We wandered through the narrow alleyways of the Medina, where the sights and sounds of the market were a feast for the senses.
One of the highlights for the children was the visit to the Caves of Hercules. The legend of Hercules and the cave’s mysterious past sparked their imaginations, and they loved exploring the natural wonder. We also took a short break at Cape Spartel, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea. The view was breathtaking, and it was a perfect spot for a family photo.
Discovering the Charm of Asilah
After our adventures in Tangier, we headed to the charming town of Asilah. Known for its beautiful old town and artistic vibe, Asilah was a delightful place to explore. The kids enjoyed wandering through the narrow streets, admiring the colorful murals and unique architecture.
We took our time to soak in the relaxed atmosphere, stopping at local shops and cafes along the way. The town’s medina was a highlight, with its winding streets and historic charm. It was a wonderful opportunity for the kids to learn about Moroccan culture and history in a fun and engaging way.
As the day came to an end, we returned to the ferry for our journey back to Tarifa. Reflecting on our day, I was grateful for the seamless experience provided by the tour operators. It was a day well spent, filled with adventure, learning, and family bonding. This Tangier & Asilah Tour is a must-do for families looking to explore the rich culture and history of Morocco in a kid-friendly way.
