Great experience - We enjoyed the experience even though we had an Italian guide rather than an English guide. He tried very hard to help us understand the experience. The only comment I will make is I was told I would receive a reduced rate, which I didn’t because the trip was refunded because of my missing an email and I then had to pay in cash on site with no discount. Fortunately I had the cash. Lesson Learned: read your emails just in case they want to contact you at the last minute. Make sure you are mobile and have good balance to walk in the woods.

Truffle hunting success in Assisi! Wonderful day! - The truffle hunt was a fantastic way to spend the afternoon! Our guide, Gemma, was very knowledgeable about all things truffle and our great truffle hunter dog, Barto, made our hunt a success with various black truffles and a big white truffle as our catch! If you go on a hunt (which I highly recommend), make sure you have good hiking shoes and make sure you can handle a hike in hilly terrain! I’ll name Barto’s owner and guide as M., because I don’t know if he wants to be named. He is an expert truffle person and we were fortunate to have M., Gemma, and Barto to guide us! A-plus day!!

A great truffle hunting experience in a forest with Bartho the dog, Gemma and her partner. - We had a wonderful time truffle hunting with Bartho the dog, Gemma and her partner, the truffle hunter. Bartho led the way while we trudged behind, always excited and happy when he starts barking and scratching at the dirt. We learnt a lot from Gemma, who was happy to share her knowledge and to answer any questions. Come prepared with proper footwear suitable for forest trekking. The amazing scenery was a real bonus! We had so much fun that it didn't matter that the truffles found that day was small. The highlight was when a white truffle was found - the aroma was just amazing! All in all, worth every dollar paid. We love Bartho!! Will do this again when we next visit Assisi.

Unique Italy Experience - This was a fun excursion and a unique experience in Italy. We learned a lot about truffle hunting and what to look for to find them which I was always curious about coming from Oregon where truffles exist. You do go off trail, up and down somewhat steep hillsides so be prepared. But it goes to show that truffle hunting is not a walk in the park!

It was very exciting to be part of the truffle hunting experience. I would definitely recommend this experience. Make sure you wear good walking shoes!

The heart of a secretive world - Ever since seeing THE TRUFFLE HUNTERS film, I have been haunted by images of the experience. And thanks to Gemma, Maurizio and Barto the dog, we had the experience yesterday - at a secret location outside Assisi. We followed obediently as Barto hunted, Gemma was able to give us lots of information about the truffle infrastructure below the ground. And yes, truffle are found, examined - and celebrated. A brilliant experience.

Exciting and very friendly - Gemma and Mauritzio have impressively and with a lot of dedication brought this special hobby to life. The area of Monte Subasio in the hinterland of Assisi was the perfect area for this.
