Marsa Alam to Aswan
Aswan - In the morning, the Egypt Touring guide will accompany the group in an air-conditioned vehicle to the stunning city of Aswan, which is approximately a 4-hour drive. Upon arrival, the tour guide will lead a visit to Aswan’s High Dam, a significant achievement of the last century in Egypt. It contains 18 times the material used in the Great Pyramid of Cheops and provides Egypt with water and electricity, protecting the country from the destructive floods of the Nile River. Next, the group will visit the Temple of Isis at Philae, whose construction began during the reign of Ptolemy II and was completed by the Roman emperors. This temple is dedicated to the goddess Isis, considered the mother of the god Horus and the consort of God Osiris. Afterward, guests will be transferred to a hotel in Aswan for an overnight stay.
Abu Simbel
Abu Simbel - At 4:00 am, guests will depart from their hotel to visit Abu Simbel, home to the renowned Great and Small temples of King Ramses II and his wife Queen Nefertari. The most remarkable feature of this temple is its location, carved into the solid rock above the Nile River’s banks. The complex is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the “Nubian Monuments,” which extends from Abu Simbel downriver to Philae (near Aswan). It is believed that the temple’s axis was designed by ancient Egyptian architects so that on October 22 and February 22, the sun’s rays would illuminate the sanctuary’s sculptures, except for the statue of Ptah, the god associated with the Underworld, who remained in darkness. These dates are thought to be the king’s birthday and coronation day. The group will return to Aswan around 1 pm.
