- Aswan High Dam - At 8:00 am, a tour guide will pick you up from your hotel, Nile cruise, or even from the airport in Aswan to enjoy a day tour in this amazing city. Begin your tour with a visit to the High Dam. The Aswan High Dam, located on the Nile River in southern Egypt, was established during the reign of Gamal Abdel Nasser with contributions from the Soviets. The dam has significantly helped in controlling water flow and mitigating the effects of the Nile flood, and it is also used to generate electricity in Egypt. The dam is 3,600 meters long, with a base width of 980 meters, a summit width of 40 meters, and a height of 111 meters. Built to manage the Nile River’s annual floods, the Aswan High Dam transformed Egypt’s Nile Valley and created the vast Lake Nasser. The sheer scale of the dam is impressive, and at the top, you’ll find sweeping views of the lake and surrounding desert.
- Unfinished Obelisk - Next, proceed to visit the Unfinished Obelisk, which showcases the techniques used by ancient Egyptians to cut obelisks. It is believed that this obelisk belongs to Queen Hatshepsut, one of the rulers of the 18th Dynasty and the royal wife of King Tuthmosis II. This queen was also the owner of her temple on the eastern bank of Luxor. There is also an opinion that it belongs to Queen Nefertiti. The Unfinished Obelisk is a pink granite obelisk located in the northern part of a quarry near Aswan on the eastern shore of the Nile, about 1 km east of the river. The height of the obelisk would have reached about 41.7 meters, and its base would measure 2.4 meters by 2.4 meters. When completed, it would have weighed about 1168 tons. You’ll also find ancient rock paintings left behind by stone workers.
- Philae Temple - Continue your tour with a visit to the majestic Philae Temple, built in honor of Goddess Isis, the chief deity of the island. The Philae temple complex is an island-based temple complex in the reservoir of the Aswan Low Dam, downstream of the Aswan Dam and Lake Nasser, Egypt. You can still admire hieroglyphic reliefs abutting soaring columns and sanctuaries dedicated to the ancient gods Horus, Isis, and Hathor. Later, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
