- The High Dam - At 8:00 am, your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel, Nile cruise, or even the airport in Aswan to embark on a day tour of the remarkable city of Aswan. Begin your tour with a visit to the High Dam. The Aswan High Dam, constructed on the Nile River in southern Egypt during the era of Gamal Abdel Nasser with Soviet assistance, plays a crucial role in controlling water flow and mitigating the effects of the Nile flood. It also generates electricity for Egypt. The dam measures 3,600 meters in length, 980 meters in width at the base, 40 meters in width at the summit, and stands 111 meters tall. Built to manage the Nile River’s annual floods, the Aswan High Dam transformed Egypt’s Nile Valley and created the vast Lake Nasser. The dam’s impressive scale offers sweeping views of the lake and surrounding desert from the top.
- Unfinished Obelisk - Next, visit the Unfinished Obelisk, which illustrates the techniques used by ancient Egyptians to cut obelisks. Likely belonging to Queen Hatshepsut of the 18th Dynasty and the royal wife of King Tuthmosis II, there is also a theory that it may belong to Queen Nefertiti. This pink granite obelisk, located in the northern part of a quarry near Aswan on the eastern shore of the Nile, about 1 km east of the river, would have stood about 41.7 meters tall with a base section of 2.4 meters by 2.4 meters. When completed, it would have weighed approximately 1168 tons. You can also see ancient rock paintings left by stone workers.
- Temple of Philae - Continue to the majestic Philae Temple, built in honor of Goddess Isis, the chief deity of the island. The Philae temple complex, situated on an island in the reservoir of the Aswan Low Dam downstream of the Aswan Dam and Lake Nasser, Egypt, features hieroglyphic reliefs on soaring columns and sanctuaries dedicated to the ancient gods Horus, Isis, and Hathor. Later, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
