Great, personal experience - We picked a 3 night cruise from Aswan to Luxor and the attention that we were provided was second to none. Great and caring staff, extremely safe and clean.

Exceeded all expectations. - This was a long awaited trip so a great deal of research went into ensuring we got this right. We decided on Orbital Travel in the UK as our operator and MS Mayfair as our boat. Both were the right choice. The entire experience was fantastic. Wonderful boat, exceptional crew, lovely food and service. Our guide however: Aymen Zieff (apologies if incorrectly spelled) was the highlight of our trip. A charming gentleman and an exceptionally erudite and articulate guide who made our trip so memorable.

Greatly exceeded all of our expectations - We just recently finished a 4 day river cruise on the Mayfair and had absolutely the best experience, it greatly exceeded our expectations. The service was top notch and the kind you’d see at a 5 star hotel or resort. For us the greatest surprise was the food. We were expecting bland or over salted food and instead felt we had gourmet meals for every sitting, even the buffets were incredible. Now granted the steak I had the second night was not as good as what I would normally get in the US, but it was good, just not a thick steak like I’m used to. Secondly we worried about the noise or gas fumes but the first night we were docked alone, one night with a few boats and then one night we were docked with the Mayflower in Luxor so we didn’t think the noise or fumes were bad at all. Overall these guys did a great job and we would absolutely return and highly recommend.

Amazing staff and great cruise ship! - We booked directly with M/S Mayfair and we were appreciative from the beginning the prompt email responses to our questions before the trip as well as after booking. They arranged picked up from the airport and we were directly taken to the cruise ship which we were assigned to M/S Mayflower. The cruise ship staff was the best! I wish we could remember everyone’s name as everyone was amazing, a few names we do remember are Abdou, Soultan, Ahmed, M.D. Badawi from the the food and bar staff. Also, Soultan and Badawi kept us entertained figuring out some “table games”:) The cruise ship was impeccable and food was great with a variety of selection of buffet for breakfast and lunch, the course dinner was always a great selection to decide on. We did the 4 night/5 day cruise from Luxor to Aswan from November 27th to December 1st and throughout our trip day excursions we felt very safe and our tour guide, Mr. Adel was very educated and had great picture demonstrations-honestly the best tour guide!

A good modern cruise with friendly staff - Furnished like an international standard hotel, the river cruiser had small but nice rooms with small but functional bathrooms, Juliet balcony and openable glass doors. Although we had a small issue with dysfunctional Aircon, it was fixed quickly. Food choices were plentiful and our gluten intolerant friend had plenty of choices; certainly ate too much over the 4 days as there were many delicious items. The top deck could have done with more shade, but nice to have a tiny pool and bar up there. Drinks were somewhat overpriced. Staff were very friendly, always smiling with both wait staff and housekeeping staff never short of a greeting or stepping up to serve. We felt welcome and enjoyed coming back after our days of touring.

Almost Cancelled Due to Conflict in Gaza - We had planned our Nile River cruise with Mayfair cruises many months ago and when the war broke out in Gaza we seriously considered cancelling. After some discussion via e mail with Maureen (she was very helpful and professional- not to mention patient) we decided to go. We are so happy we did. Not only was the cruise entirely safe, it exceeded our expectations from an amenities, service and food quality perspective. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We have been on several cruises in the past including Hawaiian, Alaskan, Mediterranean and Caribbean but this was our first river cruise. It did not disappoint. While the temperatures were hot (32-35C) once the ship got moving it was very pleasant on the upper deck. We did tours every day and they were well worth the price, albeit they did make for a very busy day at times but better to be touring inland than sitting in port all day. Overall our experience was outstanding and really recommend this cruise line.

A Wonderful Cruise on the Mayflower - We booked the Mayflower because it is one of the newest boats cruising the Nile. The shower has good water pressure, the air conditioning was as icy as I like it, the windows are double pane and quiet. In short, exactly why you book a new boat. You go on a Nile Cruise to Egypt to see ancient Egypt. My wife and I were really excited for this trip, yes we are those strange people who read history for fun. We showed up with a heck of an itinerary and this 4 night cruise was just a portion of our 12 days in Egypt. We were very pleased to be touring in a smaller group of 12 people rather than the huge groups of people exiting buses and following around guide in horde wearing earphones. Huge advantage vs other Nile cruises. We had several guides during our time in Egypt some of them even recommended by friends who had been previously. But the Egyptologist on the Mayflower (his name was Adell) was far and away the best we encountered and touring with him was one of the highlights of the trip. Adell is originally a high school history teacher, he is tremendously passionate about Ancient Egypt in a way that our other guides were not. It’s a relatively common career path and frankly most others just knew the bare minimum to satisfy the average tourist. Adell spoke perfect English, and of the many many people we encountered he was the one we had complete trust in. Kudos to Mayflower for hiring one of the best. Someday we will be back to see the more esoteric sites with Adell. The food was actually quite good, and very good when the chefs made Egyptian food (more of this please), we were definitely never hungry. No one in our group of got food poisoning on the boat. That alone is a big win. Service was great, they remember your drink order, check in regularly with a smile. Housekeeping was excellent, the boat was spotless, cabins always immaculate when we returned. Overall cruising the Nile on the Mayflower was a wonderful experience. Even just sitting in the pool as Egypt slowly passes by was something we will never forget.

The perfect ship for a Nile cruise. - Everything was perfect. Cabin was comfortable, in good condition and kept very clean, housekeepers offering to clean more than once a day of required. Great selection of food and lots of it and restaurant staff very helpful and attentive. All drinks are payable but reasonably priced. Evening entertainment was good but not going on too long. Bar staff again very helpful and attentive. The top deck is comfortable and a great place to relax whilst cruising although the hot tubs are showing their age.

Amazing staff but bad food - Mayfair owns 3 boats. We were on the MS Mayfair. This boat is much older than the MS Mayflower and there was some wear and tear around the boat. The entire staff ( minus the reception) was amazing. They were friendly and helpful. The boat was immaculate. Unfortunately the food was poor quality. Based on the high price we paid for the cruise we expected the food to be much better than it was. The welcome cocktail party the first night looked and tasted like leftovers from an earlier cruise. The rest of our meals were uninspired and bland. While they had a variety of foods nothing tasted really good. However none of us experienced any GI illness which is common on cruises. They need to find a well trained chef to bring the food quality up a notch so it is equal to the high level of service provided and commensurate with the price charged for the cruise.

Great service on the Nile but everything else needs attention - The experience starts off great, the rooms are small the staff is wonderful. Our tour guide, let's just say, wasn't very motivated to stay with us and tell us everything that we could possibly ever want to know about the Egyptian temples. It was his preference to drop us off talk for a couple of minutes and then meet us later. The rooms on the ship were very clean. We enjoyed getting some sun the upper deck as we cruised down the Nile. The food was okay except for the day they made me some special soup, which led to a few special trips to the bathroom over the next couple of days. The service is above and beyond, and in all the places I've traveled in the world, 7 star. But the logistics in the operations Department failed we tied up to some other ships and there is either an outside party, wedding or just evening festivities on one side or engines running and the smell of diesel from the boat next to us on the other side. Towards the end of the trip we were offered a nature tour charge $50 per person the tour guide made a lot of money since to rent a boat it only cost $15 doesn't matter the number of people and tour no tour pointed out a few Birds. My entire stay in Egypt, I felt like I was being taken advantage of or hustled for money or misled.
