Marrakech – Tizi N’tichka Pass -Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate

Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou - On the Marrakech to Fes tour via Merzouga, which spans 3 days and 2 nights, pick-up is at 07:30 A.M. We will drive to Ouarzazate through the High Atlas mountains and the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2260 m altitude), enjoying stunning views of the mountains and Berber villages along the way. There will be several stops to take unforgettable photos and enjoy the fresh air. Lunch will be at a local restaurant in Tichka.

After lunch, we will head to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah (a UNESCO World Heritage site) where families still reside in the fortified Ksar. We will have ample time to explore this natural set for many movies, including “Lawrence of Arabia,” “The Mummy,” and “Jesus of Nazareth.” We will stroll and cross a dried river to discover the Ait Benhaddou Kasbahs. The day will end with a drive to a Riad/hotel in Ouarzazate for dinner and an overnight stay.

Ouarzazate – Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga

Merzouga Desert - After breakfast at 09:30 A.M., we will leave for Merzouga, passing through the impressive castles of the Valley of Roses and the beautiful Dades Valley in the south.

At 11:00 A.M., we will visit Kelaat Mgouna, a Berber city that celebrates an annual rose festival in May. With the driver, you will meet locals and see rose water products made from natural roses.

At 1:00 P.M., we will continue to the Todra Valley at the entrance of the Tineghir Gorges, where we will stop to explore the area, learn about its history, culture, and traditions, and understand the way of life. In the Todra Valley, you will get an idea of how the tribal chief manages life in his tribe.

At 2:30 P.M., we will have lunch at a chic local restaurant in the Todra Gorges.

At 4:30 P.M., we will leave for Erg Chebbi in the Merzouga Sahara desert, with several stops to take memorable photos and enjoy the scenic views.

At 6:00 P.M., upon arrival in Merzouga, we will transfer to a hotel/riad where you can store your luggage, take a short break, enjoy some tea, and relax.

At 7:00 P.M., we will ride camels (about 1 hour) to a Sahara desert camp, stopping to stretch our legs and watch a spectacular sunset over the dunes. At the desert camp, we will have a delightful dinner under the starry sky, enjoy the cool air, and watch a spectacular Moroccan show with Berber folklore around a central fire pit. Musicians will play drums, and you will be invited to dance and sing along. You will also enjoy a traditional Berber meal, “Berber tajine,” and drink mint tea while sitting on cushions. You will spend a magical night under the desert tent.

Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midlet – Azrou – Fes

Moulay Ali Cherif Mausoleum - Early in the morning, we will enjoy the sunrise in the Merzouga desert by camel riding back to the hotel/riad for a delicious breakfast and shower.

At 9:00 A.M., we will depart towards Fes, passing through Rissani, where we will stop to explore the town’s culture and visit the Zawiya Moulay Ali Ash-Sharif, established to honor the founder of the Alawite dynasty. We will also stop at the dramatic Ziz Valley and Saad el Hassan el Awal.

At 1:00 P.M., we will have lunch at a local restaurant in Midelt town.

At 2:00 P.M., we will continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping at an attractive forest to enjoy time with the Barbary apes (monkeys) leaping from high tree branches, the fresh air, jagged rock faces, and charming Berber villages. We will then move to Ifrane, known as “Morocco’s Switzerland,” established by the French in 1930, to see the famous stone lion landmark. Next, we will visit Azrou to meet local nomads living in a cave, have mint tea with them, and learn more about their way of life, culture, and the history of the Moroccan Berbers.

We will then continue to Fes city and transfer you to your hotel/riad.
