Temple of Apollo - Arrive at Delphi around noon. Known for its ancient ruins, including a theater and the Temple of Apollo, Delphi was once considered the center of the earth and universe, playing a pivotal role in classical Greek culture. Upon arrival, explore the mountainside archaeological site and see the Temple of Apollo, renowned for its oracle.
Delphi - One of Greece’s most significant archaeological sites.
Meteora - In the afternoon, after lunch (at your own expense), travel through central Greece and the city of Lamia. After a brief stop in Lamia, continue to the city of Trikala for a short break, then cross the Thessalian Plain to Kalambaka, a small town nestled at the base of the impressive grey rocks topped by the Meteora monasteries. After a brief stop for souvenir shopping, stay overnight in Kalambaka at a centrally located 3- or 4-star hotel of your choice.
Kalambaka - Meteora Monasteries - Athens
Meteora - Depart in the morning for a tour of the nearby Meteora monasteries. Visit two different Byzantine monasteries perched on rock tops, offering stunning views over the plain. Meteora is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Built atop sandstone pillars, the monasteries provided monks with completely inaccessible retreats for centuries. Meteora is considered one of the most beautiful areas of mainland Greece, and its monasteries are among its most unique and striking attractions.
Leonidas Monument - On your return to Athens, enjoy an optional visit to a factory producing Byzantine-style icons, and stop for photos at the monument to the heroic Leonidas, King of Sparta, at Thermopylae. The tour returns to Athens in the late afternoon.
