Recommended! - I had only one full day in Athens, so decided to pay a little extra for a guided tour of the Acropolis. With our guide, Niobe, I got so much more out of the experience than I would have by just walking around on my own. Niobe is very knowledgeable and obviously has a passion for the subject. In fact, the tour -- advertised as 90 minutes -- wound up being closer to 2.5 hours. It was great to not feel rushed! Afterwards, I emailed the company with a question about the Agora (which wasn't even part of my tour) and they quickly got back with an answer.

Elevate the museum with a great guide - This was superb. Our guide was excellent, well paced, knowledgeable and a great communicator. It was so much richer than either going alone or the self paced audio ( which I did as well). The museum itself is beautiful. Gorgeous architecture and cleverly curated. I love that the top floor is structured to replicate the dimensions of the Parthenon ( our guide told me that!) The company allows you to stay on after the tour and that’s also worthwhile so allow yourself that time. The restaurant is also terrific. We had afternoon tea there- good food and a beautiful view. Not too expensive. You need to take euros to pay for the entrance fee - the company gets the tickets for you so it’s fast track but easy to miss in the fine print! So well organised and a total highlight in a special city. Thoroughly recommend this. Thank you.

Tina is a superior guide. - Tina was our guide and she was amazing. I am a docent for the Smithsonian Museum, and I know what makes an excellent guide.

Outstanding guide - Our guide Dimitri was outstanding. He was clearly passionate and knowledgeable and gave many insights that would not have been possible to gain by visiting the museum without him.

A must to go on a guided tour at the museum - A must to go on a guided tour at the museum to true appreciate the story behind the items there. We had a very knowledgable guide to explain these to us in a way that also our kids found interesting

Nice museum overview, but started late. - The guide was good and gave a nice overview of the museum. Three of us did just the museum tour, having done the Acropolis etc. tour previously. I would recommend staying longer afterwards, but unfortunately we were too jet-lagged. The museum was crowded; if I was going to do it again I would have gone earlier. The largest problem was that we had to wait quite a while for the guide and the rest of the group (who had just toured the Acropolis etc.) to arrive from their first half of their tour. There was a person for the tour company who kept us organized, got us our tickets, and stayed with us until the guide showed up. One suggestion is to make it clear in the listing that the museum tickets are purchased (separately at the museum, in cash) from the tour company (at no extra cost). I had to clarify a few things through emails, which were answered promptly.

Not worth the money - Our guide was very knowledgable, but we weren’t able to really look around the museum like we would have on our own. It would have been better to just go on our own without a guide. By the time the tour was done, we didn’t have time to walk around more. I would say just go on your own and read the signs.

I'd rather read a guide - Dont recommend- very superficial knowledge and shorter than expected. I was very excited and disappointed about the end. I almost learned nothing interesting
