Lavreotiki has a history stretching back to the Neolithic times, predominantly due to its rich mineral reserves. It was the principal source of silver for ancient and modern Greece. The wealth amassed from the area’s mining activities enabled Athens to flourish in the Classical period.

Post-Classical Antiquity, mining operations were halted, leaving the area largely uninhabited until the middle of the 19th century.
Lavreotiki’s landscape is marked by rolling hills and a sprawling coastline that encompasses the town of Lavrio and the Sounion National Park. It is home to numerous archaeological sites and landmarks of historical significance.

Please note that during summers, on Saturdays and Sundays, the tour will commence one hour earlier, at 08h00 am.
