Highlights
  • Acropolis - This tour will take you to all the biblical sites of Athens. \n\nDuring your Acropolis visit (approx. 2 hrs) you will see:\n- Propylaea, \n- The Parthenon \n- Erechtheion \n- The Temple of Athena Nike,\n\nLooking down from the Acropolis you’ll see the two ancient theaters in its shadow:\n- The Theater of Dionysus , the oldest Greek theater (built in the 5th century BC), \n- Odeon of Herod Atticus, erected in AD 161. The site hosts performances for the summer Athens Festival. \n\nThe next step will be the “Mars Hill”, where Apostle Paul proclaimed the word of the Christian God to the Athenian philosophers\n \n- Ancient Agora of Athens - The ancient Agora which was the heart of Athens in antiquity and the meeting point of Saint Paul with the first followers of Christianity in Athens.. \n- Ancient Corinth (Archaia Korinthos) - Depart from and drive along the coast line until we reach the Corinth Canal where we will make a brief stop. We continue our day trip from Athens to ancient Corinth. Ancient Corinth was one of the most important cities of ancient Greece. It was this megalopolis where the Apostle Paul arrived, worked and established a prosperous church, and later on he wrote two of his epistles, which are now part of the New Testament. We will visit the ruins of the old city where St. Paul worked\n\nYou will admire also the Temple of Apollo, that is one of the oldest temples in Greece dating back to the 6th century B.C.\n- Corinth Canal - Depart from and drive along the coast line until we reach the Corinth Canal where we will make a brief stop.\n\nThe Corinth Canal connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. \n\nls considered one of the great engineering accomplishments of Greece.\n\nThe canal was dug through the Isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometres (4 mi) in length and only 21.4 metres (70 ft) wide at its base. The canal was constructed from 1880 to 1893, however, it is something that shipowners and captains had dreamed about for some 2000 years before it became a reality.\n- Areopagus Hill - The Areopagus, like most city-state institutions, continued to function in Roman times, and it was then that the Apostle Paul delivered his famous speech about the identity of “the Unknown God.” According to the biblical account (Acts 17):

Great experience - Dionisis took great care of my husband and I. He's a great, experienced driver - which is very necessary in Athens. We felt safe and comfortable. He arranged a fantastic tour guide for us as well. As a bonus, we had one of our best gyros of our trip from his direct recommendation!

Relaxing and Cultural - Tours of Athens gave us a very professional tour, the coach was immaculate and comfortable, staff was ver patient, clear and understanding. We were are group of 50 people. The tour guide tailored the explanations in such a way that our young people (10-17) would follow up and be interested. We had enough stops to see the monuments and then carry on to the next place. It was safe to leave our belongings in the coach. We ended up on Ortodox Easter Friday, Tours of Athens was able to tailor our tour so we could make the most of it despite the different venues that were closed. Thank you so much for such a wonderful time together and full of culture!

Biblical Tour of Athens and Ancient Corinth - What an amazing tour! Our driver George picked us up at our Air BnB, and navigated the crowded Athens streets with ease. We met our tour guide Stelios at the Acropolis, and he walked us around telling us what everything was. He answered all of our questions and made it so much more interesting than if we would have done it on our own. He showed us where Paul would have spoke at the Aeropagus, next to the Acropolis. He also showed us the area below the Acropolis, and the temple of Zeus and the ancient Agora. From there we went to ancient Corinth, where Stelios recommended a place for lunch, which was fabulous. Unfortunately, the archaeological museum was closed, so we went do the port where Paul would have sailed to Ephesus instead. Stelios was amazing at giving us pointers for places to go and explore on our own in Athens. Overall, this tour was a major highlight of our trip to Greece. Communication before and after the tour with the owner Dionisis was always very quick. I highly recommend this tour and company! You will not be disapointed!
