• Propylaea - The Propylaea serves as the grand entrance to the sacred area dedicated to Athena, the city’s patron goddess. Designed by the architect Mnesicles using Pentelic marble, its design was ahead of its time. To the southwest of the Propylaea, on a rampart guarding the main entrance to the Acropolis, stands the Ionian temple of Apteros Nike.

• Herod Atticus Odeon - The Odeon of Herodes Atticus is a stone Roman theater on the southwest slope of the Acropolis of Athens, completed in 161 AD and renovated in 1950.
• Temple of Olympian Zeus - After visiting the Acropolis, head to the Temple of Zeus, the largest temple of antiquity, dedicated to the King of the Gods, accessible via Hadrian’s Arch.

• Plateia Syntagmatos - Syntagma Square, named after the Constitution granted by Otto, the first King of Greece, following a popular and military uprising on September 3, 1843, is the central square of Athens.
• The Academy of Athens - The Academy Building is part of an “architectural trilogy” and was founded as an Academy of Sciences, Humanities, and Fine Arts by the Constitutional Decree of March 18, 1926.
• The Academy of Athens - The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the largest state institution of higher learning in Greece and one of Europe’s largest universities, was designed by Danish architect Christian Hansen and completed in 1864.
• National Library of Greece - Built at the end of the 19th century, the National Library of Greece is the last of the Architectural Trilogy of Athens, which includes the Academy and the University. It was designed by Theophil Hansen.
• Mount Lycabettus - Drive up to Lycabettus Hill, the highest point in Athens, for a panoramic view of the city, from the Acropolis hill to the Aegean Sea.
• Ancient Agora of Athens - Visit the Ancient Agora, the birthplace of democracy, philosophy, and free speech.

While the collection spans the Archaic and Roman periods, it focuses on the 5th century BCE Acropolis, considered the pinnacle of Greek artistic achievement. Opened in 2009, this museum was voted the best mono-thematic museum in 2019.
