Highlights
  • Acropolis - Begin your Athens sightseeing with the Acropolis hill, a highlight of your day. On this historic hill, you’ll encounter the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Temple of Athena Nike, the grand entrance (Propylaea), the Erechtheum, and the renowned Parthenon, the main temple dedicated to the virgin goddess Athena.
  • Propylaea - The Propylaea serves as the grand entrance to the sacred area dedicated to Athena, the city’s patron goddess. Designed by the architect Mnesicles using Pentelic marble, its design was ahead of its time. To the southwest of the Propylaea, on a rampart guarding the main entrance to the Acropolis, stands the Ionian temple of Apteros Nike.
  • Parthenon - The Parthenon is the main temple dedicated to the virgin goddess Athena, symbolizing Athenian Democracy and Western Civilization.
  • Erechtheion - The temple of Poseidon and Athena, known as the most unique and sacred site in ancient Athens.
  • Temple of Athena Nike - A temple dedicated to the goddess Athena Nike, also known as Wingless Victory.
  • Theater of Dionysus - The Theatre of Dionysus Eleuthereus, located at the foot of the Athenian Acropolis, is considered the world’s first theatre.
  • Herod Atticus Odeon - The Odeon of Herodes Atticus is a stone Roman theater on the southwest slope of the Acropolis of Athens, completed in 161 AD and renovated in 1950.
  • Temple of Olympian Zeus - After visiting the Acropolis, head to the Temple of Zeus, the largest temple of antiquity, dedicated to the King of the Gods, accessible via Hadrian’s Arch.
  • Panathenaic Stadium - Visit the Panathenaic Stadium, the site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896.
  • Tomb of the Unknown Soldier - Witness the changing of the guard (Euzones) in front of the old palace, now the Parliament House, above Athens’ central square.
  • Hellenic Parliament - The Hellenic Parliament, known in Greek as Voulí ton Ellínon, is Greece’s parliament located in the Old Royal Palace, overlooking Syntagma Square. It is the supreme democratic institution representing citizens through elected Members of Parliament.
  • Plateia Syntagmatos - Syntagma Square, named after the Constitution granted by Otto, the first King of Greece, following a popular and military uprising on September 3, 1843, is the central square of Athens.
  • The Academy of Athens - The Academy Building is part of an “architectural trilogy” and was founded as an Academy of Sciences, Humanities, and Fine Arts by the Constitutional Decree of March 18, 1926.
  • The Academy of Athens - The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the largest state institution of higher learning in Greece and one of Europe’s largest universities, was designed by Danish architect Christian Hansen and completed in 1864.
  • National Library of Greece - Built at the end of the 19th century, the National Library of Greece is the last of the Architectural Trilogy of Athens, which includes the Academy and the University. It was designed by Theophil Hansen.
  • Mount Lycabettus - Drive up to Lycabettus Hill, the highest point in Athens, for a panoramic view of the city, from the Acropolis hill to the Aegean Sea.
  • Ancient Agora of Athens - Visit the Ancient Agora, the birthplace of democracy, philosophy, and free speech.
  • Acropolis Museum - Alternatively, visit the new Acropolis Museum instead of the Ancient Agora.

As you enter the museum, look through the plexiglass floor to see the ruins of an ancient Athenian neighborhood, integrated into the museum’s design after being discovered during excavations. This stunning modernist museum at the foot of the Acropolis’ southern slope displays its remaining treasures still in Greek possession. While the collection spans the Archaic and Roman periods, it focuses on the 5th century BCE Acropolis, considered the pinnacle of Greek artistic achievement. Opened in 2009, this museum was voted the best mono-thematic museum in 2019.

A great tour for some of the most famous places in the world - An excellent experience!! Our tour guide, Stefanous, was great (knowledgeable, humorous, etc.) and was very helpful getting our party ( including two with mobility issues) access to the Acropolis, Ancient Mall and museum, etc. The vehicle was very comfortable, and the tour highlights made this a very memorable experience! We would highly recommend this to others.

Highly recommend! - We had a terrific 1/2 day tour with Stavros as our guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and kind. He went above and beyond for us. We had limited time in the city so this checked the boxes but also made us want to return. We left loving our experience, interested in learning more and very appreciate that we booked! Nice, air conditioned van on top of everything!

Great highlights tour of Athens - Great guide and a great way to see the highlights of Athens quickly. It gives you a chance to see things and get ideas of where else you might want to spend more time. Our driver was a native and gave us a good rundown and look at several different neighborhoods in Athens as well as recommending a few places for dinner (Taverne Stamatopolous in Plaka was great). Seeing the Acropolis was fantastic. It's a beautiful place and you get a stunning view of Athens from there. It is wheelchair accessible to get up there though not so much on the plateau. You can easily get around the Parthenon but several of the additional things to see up there are not (still worth it). We got to Lycabettus/Likavitou very near sundown and it's definitely worth going up there as the view is spectacular. We also saw the Olympic Stadium, the changing of the guard (interesting though skippable), the Temple of Zeus and the Agora. Overall quick highlights tour and for us it was well worth it (we had 15 people in our group). One note is that the driver is not able to accompany you in the various places as it requires a license but our driver still did a great job of telling us how to get around and giving us history and local color as we went around. Would definitely recommend.

Athens half day private - Yannis picked us up on time from our hotel. Drove us to all the important sights and on to the Acropolis for our hike to the top. Nice clean vehicle. Money well spent for seeing Athens highlights in one day.

Athens in three hours! - Needed a ride from pier to airport, with a few hours to see sights so we opted for the half day, private tour. After much correspondence with Gianna, we selected Olive. Our driver/tour guide was Tas. He was awesome. Not only punctual, flexible, knowledgeable, he knew what to cover in the limited time we had. He made the end of our vacation a real treat. I would highly recommend.
