- Temple of Olympian Zeus - Situated between the Acropolis and the Ilissos River, the grand Olympeion was among the most significant ancient temples dedicated to Zeus and one of the most renowned marble structures of the ancient world. Discussions will focus on the Temple and its tales from an external perspective.
- Acropolis - As the most magnificent sanctuary of ancient Athens, primarily devoted to its patron, the goddess Athena, the Acropolis has been a central feature of the city for millennia. The Acropolis monuments (the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, the Propylaea, the Theater of Dionysus,…) are all exceptional masterpieces of ancient architecture, influencing art and culture for centuries while harmonizing with their natural surroundings.
- Theatre of Dionysus - Dionysus, the god of wine and grape harvest, was honored in the Theatre of Dionysus, the oldest theatre established in Athens. It was here that the unparalleled works of Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, and Aristophanes were first performed.
- Temple of Athena Nike - Dedicated to the goddesses Athena and Nike, the Temple of Athena Nike honored Nike, the goddess of victory in Greek mythology, and Athena, celebrated in this form as victorious in war. Legend has it that the cult statue of the goddess at the temple was wingless to ensure she would never leave Athens.
- Erechtheion - The Erechtheion, an ancient Greek temple on the Acropolis of Athens, was built to house the ancient wooden cult statue of Athena and to celebrate the city’s greatness at the peak of its power and influence.
- Parthenon - Dominating the Acropolis hill in Athens, the Parthenon was constructed in the mid-5th century BCE and dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena Parthenos (“Athena the Virgin”). This temple is widely regarded as the pinnacle of the Doric order’s development, the simplest of the three Classical Greek architectural styles.
- Ancient Agora of Athens - The Agora was the vibrant heart of ancient Athens, serving as the hub of political, commercial, administrative, and social activities, as well as the religious and cultural center and the seat of justice.
- Temple of Hephaestus - The splendid Temple of Hephaestus, one of the best-preserved ancient temples globally, was a place of worship for two significant deities for many merchants and shop owners of the Ancient Agora: Hephaestus, the god protecting all metallurgists, and Athena Ergani, the goddess safeguarding all potters and cottage industries.

Fabulous Intro to Ancient Athens - This is a great introductory tour to the Acropolis. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. There is so much to see, it feels like you could spend an entire week and still learn more, but this tour is great for a first time visitor.

Loved EVERY MINUTE of this tour! - This was one of the best tours I've ever done -- seriously! I travel a lot, I love a good guided tour, and I'm a former teacher (Art/Art History), and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE of this tour. Our guide was so knowledgeable and she really took time to answer everyone's questions. She also had great pacing during the tour, and she kept things lighthearted and fun balanced with enough depth to keep us learning without overkill. She put the Acropolis, the Roman and Athenian Agoras, and Hadrian's Arch and surround areas into context with an expert mix of mythology and history. There was also a range of ages on our trip and our guide did a wonderful job of allowing everyone to take the time they needed to keep up with the pace of the walk.

I can’t imagine a better Acropolis tour - The tour was absolutely fantastic. I learned so much about the history and culture of Athens coupled with the mythology. Our guide, Alex, was amazing. He made it so interesting, tied it in to where we were from, and answered questions. My only criticism of the tour is of the booking process. It said entry tickets were not included, but it wasn’t clear how we could/should buy the entry tickets. I booked the tour 2 days before, and the next day I got a text that I should have already bought my site entry tickets and to contact the tour company asap if not. I contacted them, and they offered to buy the tickets for me and sent me an invoice/payment request. Maybe this process was more clear through other booking sites. It wasn’t clear through Viator.

Fun Way to Learn About the Acropolis - The Mythology of Greek Gods and Goddesses was the framework for introducing and describing the Acropolis sites of Athens. A very fun way to experience the Acropolis. Guide was extremely knowledgeable Her English was very good.

An Unforgettable Tour of Athens – History & Mythology Come to Life! -
Our guided tour of Athens was absolutely fantastic! Our guide, [DEMI], not only took us to the city’s most famous landmarks but also immersed us in the fascinating world of Greek mythology.
From the majestic Acropolis to the Temple of Zeus, every site was filled with incredible stories of gods, heroes, and ancient legends. One of the highlights was hearing about the legendary contest between Athena and Poseidon for the patronage of the city. Poseidon struck the ground with his trident, creating a saltwater spring, while Athena gifted the first olive tree—an offering that ultimately won her the honor of naming the city.
Beyond the mythology, the tour was well-organized, insightful, and full of great local recommendations. If you want to experience Athens in a truly special way—where history and mythology intertwine—this tour is an absolute must!

February 2025 Mythological Tour - We had a wonderful time with this tour. We have Antonia as our tour guide and she was so personable and knowledgeable. We went in February so we ended up with a private tour so we had extra time to talk about specific interests and questions and Antonia was able to answer all our questions and more. We really appreciated her showing us around the city and pointing out places to go after the tour. Thanks Antonia!!

The best guided tour one can hope for - Simply the best guided tour experience I've had in years!
We took the afternoon Acropolis Tour, with the amazing Alex. He was able to bring to life the ancient ruins, in a way we felt part of the lives of Athenians 2,500 years ago.
So knowledgeable, so informative, so nice, so fascinating and soooo passionate about life, history and culture of Ancient Greece. Truly an experience to remember 🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷

Amazing stories of the Acropolis and Greek Mythology - Vicky was our guide of the Acropolis and the ancient agora and she was excellent. Very detailed knowledge of Greek mythology (she knows her gods, Demi-gods, who bore whom, and what each of them represents). But also excellent knowledge of the Acropolis and the different areas of the Acropolis and the ancient Agora. Vicky is fun and funny and likes to laugh and tells the history with easy-to-understand stories. A real story-teller! Go on a tour, but make sure it is Vicky that is leading it.

Fantastic Tour! 10/10 would recommend. Well worth the price! - This tour was phenomenal. Our tour guide, David, was extremely knowledgeable and made the tour extremely interesting. He also gave us plenty of time to stop and take pictures, especially on top of the Acropolis. He made the tour extremely interactive by engaging the tour members, which was very fun and unique. We were hesitant at first because the tour seemed expensive (and did not include tickets) but we wanted a tour specific to Greek mythology since that is what interested us and it was hard to find. We are so glad we did this tour, since it would have been a completely different experience without learning about the history and mythology as we went. I know a lot about Greek mythology, and still found myself learning new things and stories from the guide. It was amazing to learn about the mythology in the actual location where it was happening. We did the morning tour, which I would highly suggest. Even during off-season in the morning the Acropolis got pretty crowded. We purchased our own tickets after checking with the tour about what entry time to select, since we got the Acropolis + 6 archeological site tickets which were a cheaper combination ticket than buying everything separately. Whenever I contacted the company with questions they were extremely responsive, and didn't try to force us to buy tickets through them (although it is possible to do so). Another note - the tour started at 8:45 and the Temple of Zues (the Olympieion) opened at 8:00. The tour meeting point (Arch of Hadrian) was right next to the Olympieion but we didn't think we would have time to do the Olympieion before the tour. We only had 2 days in Athens and went back to the Olympieion the next day, but it only took us about 20 minutes to walk through. If you are debating doing it before the tour - go for it, there's not too much to see and it's pretty far out of the way if you have to come back to it.
