The Worst Experience - Let me start off my long speech by saying I understand it difficult to run a business and that policy’s are put in place to protect that. I am traveling with my best friend for her Birthday i have planned multiple tours and outings for her to experience her first time in Europe. We scheduled the Nightlife Tour with Alternative Athens after speaking with the team there prior to arrival and was told Sunday was a really great night to experience the tour. We were supposed to arrive in Athens from Mykonos with plenty of time to attend the tour. But our flight from Mykonos was canceled and we barely made it to the last local ferry which arrived at 11pm 2 hours after the tour started. Once we realized our flight was canceled we sent and email and called the emergency line letting them know of our predicament. I spoke to someone and asked if it was possible to move the tour to Monday. I was told yes they just needed to check the availability, I was told I would receive a call back if there was space. Three hours after I was sent an email saying I could repurchase tickets and that there was space. I emailed back and asked politely surely you’re not asking me to rebuy these tickets especially since that is not what was told to me on the phone, there has to be an exception that can be made since my flight cancelation was completely out of my hands. I received an email a few mins later saying they will contact the manager and see if anything can be done. I woke up the next day to an email saying the manger said there was nothing to be done. Frustrated I called the office wanting to speak to this manager. I ended up again speaking too Elisavet who I have been corresponding with since the begging only to be told the manager was in a meeting. I asked if I can please be informed by email when she was available. An hour later I received another email asking for proof of my canceled flight to move forward (Only because I believe I called and asked to speak to the manager). I sent back my canceled flight proof instantly only to be sent an email saying and I quote “Kindly note that the tour took place yesterday night and that there were other guests that tried to book but couldn't because the 2 spots were already occupied. With this in mind, we can make an exception and grant rebooking this tour with 50% payment. “ If this was expressed to us first when we called and told them our issues we probably would have taken it but the fact that now after two days of back and forth emails and then me calling and asking to speak to a manager with them realizing I was not going to let this lie their “forced solution” was unacceptable and I told them so. They are essentially blaming us for our canceled flight then trying to guilt us by saying we are the reason two other people couldn’t attend because I bought my ticket two months in advanced. If they were so worried about these other people they could have contacted them and asked if they wanted the slots since we called the 5 hours in advance and told them we couldn’t attend. To End after I sent my email expressing my disinterest I received a call from the owner which was more of we can’t do anything our hands are tied and have you tried to receive $250 Euro from the airline to cover your expenses. I expressed to the owner that I have settled my issues with the airline but my problem now is way past money because this isn’t about $130 it is about the unorganized organization that is Alternative Athens. She once again offered her subpar Olive branch of 50% off an event I already paid for but no apology was given for the false information we were given at any time. Other than that I’m sure the tours are great.
