- Hellenic Parliament - Visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in front of the Greek Parliament and explore the stunning neoclassical buildings of Athens.
- The Academy of Athens - Designed as part of an architectural trilogy in 1859 by Danish architect Theophil Hansen, along with the University and the National Library. Funded by magnate Simon Sinas, the foundation stone was laid on August 2, 1859. Construction progressed quickly under Ernst Ziller after 1861 but was halted due to internal conflicts during the latter years of King Otto’s reign, leading to his ousting in 1862. Work resumed in 1868 and was completed in 1885 at a cost of 2,843,319 gold drachmas, mostly funded by Sinas and, after his death, by his wife Ifigeneia. The Academy’s main building is a major landmark of Athens.
- Omonia Square - Constructed in 1846 and originally named “Plateia Anaktoron” (Palace Square), it was intended for the construction of a palace by architects Stamatios Kleanthis and Eduard Schaubert. Later renamed “Othonos Square” in honor of King Otto, the first king of Greece, it was renamed “Omonoia Square” in 1862 after leaders of opposing political factions pledged peace (omonia) here.
- Karaiskaki Square - Located in the Metaxourgeio district, this large square includes a metro station and features a green area with trees, flowers, and grass. At its center stands the Icarus Monument to Fallen Aviators, a modern art metal statue created in 1987 by sculptor Evangelos Moustakas and architect Ioannis Moustakas.
