The roots of democracy, physics, astronomy, ethics, and myriad other practical sciences can be traced back to philosophy, with philosophers held in high regard as the pioneers of intellectual thought. In a private walking tour spanning four hours, you will gain a wealth of knowledge about noted philosophers ranging from Thales of Miletus to eminent figures like Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. You’ll also explore the persona of Diogenes of Sinope, the Cynic philosopher best known for his sharp retort to Alexander the Great’s offer of favor when he said, “Stand out of my sunlight”.
Along the journey, you will familiarize yourself with the vital myths of the ancient Greek world, including the intriguing tale behind the birth of Goddess Athena and the various narratives surrounding the playful god, Hermes.

Amazing and interesting tour - We had John as our tour guide and he was absolutely brilliant. He explained philosophical concepts to me and my 2 teenagers in such an engaging and clear way, and knew so much about the history, philosophy and culture of Athens. A wonderful day which I highly recommend.

Fascinating and fun tour! - We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and quite entertaining. It was a great tour for anyone with a base level of philosophy knowledge. We saw some fascinating sites and learnt some great things about Athenian history, philosophy and mythology!

Amazing experience! - This was a wonderful tour! Our guide, John, was incredible and we could’ve listened to him talk all day! He was kind, funny, thoughtful, and super knowledgeable. This was our first introduction to Athens and we are so glad we had John to show us around and make it such an immersive and enjoyable experience. All three of my teens loved it! John is the best!

One of our best tours in Athens - I wasn't sure what to expect from this tour. Myths & Philosophers? We met up with Bianca and immediately felt at ease. She engaged both of us. She talked to us like a person not a teacher. But she had a way of making you want to learn and ask questions. She was thought provoking and made us want more. I wish we could have spend more time with her. It was the absolute best. If I ever return I will look her up and get it touch. Thanks Bianca for a fantastic day and all the recommendations.

A MUST when you visit Greece! - I think I really love Greece now 😂... I'm so impressed with all the things that have birthed western civilization that sprang from this soil from the minds of the world's greatest thinkers. To top it off , education is free here!! My kind of people! On this tour, I learned all about how Socrates was the bedrock of many different schools of philosophy and from him sprang Plato and then Aristotle who created the sciences! I won't say too much so as not to spoil the surprises, but I never knew Aristotle was responsible for so many contributions, even Anatomy itself!! He was so curious and his philosophy was to observe the world and from him observations he left us a gift we had no conceived and lifted the veil of ignorance off the face of the earth for many! It was a great tour! Bianca was the best history teacher I've had so far! She helped me fill in a lot of the gaps in my understanding. She shared insights with me about Greek culture. I was glad to have made a friend 😊 by the end of the tour. You will do yourself a disservice if you do not add this to your itinerary while in Greece! Enjoy!
