Highlights
  • Acropolis - The Acropolis of Athens and its monuments are universal symbols of the classical spirit and civilization and form the greatest architectural and artistic complex bequeathed by Greek Antiquity to the world.
  • Theater of Dionysus - Dionysus was the god of wine and grape harvest. The theatre of Dionysus was the oldest to be founded in Athens; it was in this theatre that the unsurpassed works by Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides and Aristophanes were performed for the first time.
  • Temple of Athena Nike - The Temple of Athena Nike was dedicated to the goddesses Athena and Nike. Nike was the goddess of victory in Greek mythology, and Athena was worshipped in this form, representative of being victorious in war. It is said that the cult statue of the goddess at the temple had no wings so that she would never leave Athens.
  • Erechtheion - The Erechtheion is an ancient Greek temple constructed on the Acropolis of Athens in order to house the ancient wooden cult statue of Athena and generally glorify the great city at the height of its power and influence.
  • Parthenon - The Parthenon is temple that dominates the hill of the Acropolis at Athens. It was built in the mid-5th century BCE and dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena Parthenos (“Athena the Virgin”). The temple is generally considered to be the culmination of the development of the Doric order, the simplest of the three Classical Greek architectural orders.

Recommend - Really recommend the Acropolis guided tour. The guide was really nice, the walking had pauses with visual aids and it helped us recover in the middle of a heatwave.

Best explained tour - This tour, guided by Georgina, a very knowledgeable Greek Lady who Graciously took us trough the Hill of the Acropolis under 90F of extreme heat. Let me tell you, she did not miss a beat, and told us the stories of our Ancient Greek Gods and Goddess . Made us understand all the history behind the walls and pillars of the Acropolis I couldn’t have chosen a better option for my tour, small group and explanations given in the most comprehensive way. I will recommend this tour over and over again. Thank you

An informative and intriguing tour - Dimitrius was an excellent tour guide. On a day that turned out rainy and gloomy he definitely changed the day into quite a fun and informative trip. The afternoon tour makes maneuvering the acropolis much more simple with lots of photo opportunities. Be prepared to walk and go up an incline, bring water and enjoy as our tour guide gives in depth history and lecture with supplementary photos of the monuments we look at!

Great experience to do absolutely! - We loved this visit! This visit made a very big difference for us because otherwise, although the acropolis is magnificent, we don't really understand what we are seeing. However, the guide was very nice and knew the history like the back of her hand. She told us lots of stories and anecdotes, made sure that we felt good throughout the visit and knew how to make this experience very lively - we recommend 100%!

Costas was a great story... - Costas was a great story teller and historian. We enjoyed all of his explanations and it was a great way to get a brief but entertaining overview of the Acropolis/Parthenon.

Insightful guide, just the right amount of information and time - Seeing the Parthenon and the acropolis with such a thoughtful and knowledgeable guide, added enormously to our experience. She was an archaeologist and shared lots of great details. Our small group of five was just the right number to explore the site with. I would highly recommend this tour.

Nicely paced and informative tour - While there is no chance of visiting the Acropolis completely crowd free, this was a nicely paced tour at the end of the day, when crowds weren't too overwhelming. We were coming off of a full day of sightseeing so we were a bit tired and worried about the walk up the hill, but the tour was very nicely paced with lots of stops along the way, so it never felt strenuous.

Even with a small group tour, we needed headsets to be able to hear. - We enjoyed our visit to the Acropolis -- it's obviously a must-do when visiting Athens. I don't know if I would do a guided tour again though. This particular tour did not have any headsets and it was very hard to hear our guide sometimes. It was very loud with so many other groups around and our guide was soft-spoken. I think we would have preferred to wander a bit more than standing in the shade and struggling to listen. Our guide was very funny and nice though. We also did not get the "fun map of Ancient Athens" even though we had them purchase our tickets. Going in the afternoon was awesome! It wasn't too crowded, easy to get in. I loved being there as the sun was going down.
