• Corinth Canal - We leave Athens by crossing the highway to Corinth.
  The Isthmus of Corinth is a narrow strip of land that connects mainland Greece to Peloponnese, while the canal drilled across it connects the Saronic with the Corinthian Gulf, thus connecting the Aegean Sea with the Ionian Sea. The length of of the Isthmus is about 6 kilometers and the narrowest point is where the Corinth Canal has been drilled (1880 to 1893).

• Archaeological Site of Mystra - Mystras or Myzythras is located only 7 km from Sparta, it was the capital of the Byzantine Despotate of Morea an the second city of the Byzantine Empire. It was a fortress of the Byzantine Empire, founded in 13th century during th Frankish occupation of the Peloponnese.

Sparta boasts a significant history as a prominent ancient hub, renowned for its highly structured archaic military. The Dorians established it in the 9th century, and it subsequently rose to prominence as the most dominant military city, a development attributed to Lycurgus (a law-giver). The heroic king of this Greek city-state, Leonidas, also hailed from Sparta. In the historic battle of 480 BC, King Leonidas, leading 300 Spartans, claimed victory over the vast Persian army.
