Start at Larissis station, Athens’ main railway station, where you will board the train to Kalambaka. Relish the unique scenic routes offered by the Greek countryside throughout your journey.
Upon arrival, meet your guide holding a signboard with your name. Walk with your guide to the Meteora Monasteries to admire the stunning Christian architecture. Explore over 700 years of history and the monasteries’ influence.
After the tour, you will be transferred to Kalabaka’s city center, where you will have about an hour to enjoy lunch or coffee under the shadow of giant rocks. You will receive all the necessary information on how to get to the train station.
- Kastraki - Upon arrival in Kalambaka, there will be a 20-minute stop for lunch, a break, a food market visit, or coffee.
- Meteora - View all six monasteries from the outside and visit three of them depending on the day of arrival: - Great Meteoron Monastery: the oldest and largest. - Varlaam Monastery: the second largest. - Saint Stephen’s Monastery: the most accessible. - Holy Trinity: the most challenging to access (featured in a James Bond movie). - Roussanou Monastery: easily accessible. - Saint Nicholas Monastery: known for its significant iconography and the first one encountered on the way to Meteora.
