Additional Information

Our culinary session will dive into the crafting of classic Greek meals such as Moussaka and Spanakopita pie by unfolding your phyllo pastry (Spinach pie). We’ll also be making two traditional pies: a Spinach pie and Milk pie. Beyond pies, we’ll assemble a Greek island-style salad with cherry tomatoes tinged with aged local vinegar and Greek yogurt tzatziki sauce. Our cooking space is just a short walk from Monastiraki square, in the eclectic Psirri district. I’ll meet you there, on the rooftop terrace offering a view of the Acropolis. We’ll begin by preparing ingredients, having a conversation to ease into the atmosphere and discussing Greek and Mediterranean culinary arts; afterward, I’ll introduce you to the ingredients we’ll be using. Once that’s done, we can dive into the cooking class! After we’re done, we’ll cook, dine, and appreciate the food we’ve made together, all against the beautiful backdrop of the Acropolis monuments and the Parthenon temple illuminated at night, with the bustling heart of Athens and the dome of Aghios Dimitrios church in sight. Unfortunately, we do not offer gluten-free options. However, vegetarians are warmly welcomed!

MY BIG FAT GREEK EXPERIENCE - We loved this cooking class! It was everything we had hoped it would be .....educational, yet relaxing and full of fun hands-on cooking experience. Our chef, Spiro, had the patience of a saint as he instructed our class. We not only learned some basic kitchen techniques, but also were educated about many Greek foods and spices. Spiro entertained us with his personal stories of cooking successes and failures which made the class feel more at ease. The end result had us all sitting together on the rooftop with Spiro, sharing our meal like one big Greek family. This class was well organized and worth every penny....or should I say euro!

Great Class - My wife and I were looking for a different experience in Athens and signed up for Stam's cooking class. We had a great time and the food was excellent. The place was equipped and lovely. Stam was well prepared and was engaging and a great class leader. I expect he is also an outstanding chef. We prepared a whole meal (a lot was prepped for the class) but we left with the feeling we could replicate most, if not all, of the dishes at home. When finished we had the meal in a lovely space overlooking the Acropolis. Stam was helpful on things to do in Athens and other parts of Greece. We would highly recommend this class.

Traditional Greek Cooking with all the hints to replicate at home! - Chef Spyrios was patient, informative and entertaining from the outset of the evening. He was clear with his instructions and very open with his approach - nothing was too much trouble. It was so good to get all the hints to make these Greek dishes the traditional way and they all tasted delicious even if we had made them ourselves. We have done a few other cooking classes during our travels but this one rates at number one the Chef Spyrios is the reason. He should get all the credit for this.

Great afternoon spent learning to cook traditional Greek dishes - I love cooking so I thought this would be a great way to try greek food and it was! The chef, Stan, was really enthusiastic and clearly loves what he does. Everything was explained well, there was space to ask questions, and it was really interesting to hear about the history and Stam's personal history with these dishes. The food was incredible, and so much food!! I will definitely be recreating the recipes when I am home! Also, I went on my own and it was a very welcoming environment, and I particularly enjoyed sitting as a group at the end to eat. Next time I would pay the small amount extra to have the wine pairings along side the dishes!

Cooking with a twist - Chef Stam was awesome! The entire experience was delightful. We not only learned how to make traditional Greek dishes, but we also learned more about the history behind the cooking which was a nice touch. The chef even had some jokes along the way. I'm the end, EVERYTHING was DELICIOUS!
