Being the most important and crowded square in Athens, Syntagma square is surrounded by the Parliament and other impressive neoclassical buildings, but it wasn’t always like this! Learn why King Otto moved the capital of the newly-born Greek Kingdom from Nafplio to Athens and why he picked Syntagma Square for his Palace.

  • Tomb of the Unknown Soldier - Moving into the Parliament, you’ll visit the tomb of the unknown soldier and see the Evzones, the guards of the constitution dressed in a traditional white skirt, red hat, and an old rifle, a costume dated back to the 17th and 18th-century. Learn about the tradition of the changing of the guard and watch the ceremony that happens every hour and simply cannot be missed during your Athens tour.

You’ll continue your tour by following Theseus, the legendary hero from Greek mythology, trails around Athens’s most famous landmarks. A wonderful experience in the city of Athens - This is a very wonderful experience to do. We first met George the amazing tour guide very nice and shares us his knowledge about the city of Athens at the Syntagma Square then walk all around in the very beautiful city of Athens, we first walk in front of the Parlement to see the change of the soldiers every hour, then we went to the National Garden where you can seat and relax, also walk at the Panathenaic Olympics Stadium to take some pictures. We also saw the Temple Olympian Zeus where you can see in the image that there are in renovation too and in front we saw a piece of the wall that surrounded Athens. After, we walk in Plaka to see the beautiful street and restaurant where we took a coffee in roof top. To end up we went to the Monastiraki a place full of restaurant and small street and full of souvenirs shop. It was an enriching day and a good day well spent :)
