• Acropolis - MEETING THE GUIDE. The guide will be waiting at Makrygianni Street at the Acropolis Metro stop, conveniently located near the Acropolis Main Entrance.

This meeting point offers a perfect vantage point to admire the surrounding wall of the Acropolis, constructed by the ancient Mycenaean civilization. The guide will provide an introduction to the history of the Acropolis, its significance in ancient Greek life, and an overview of the temples and remarkable monuments you are about to explore.

• Theater of Dionysus - In a well-preserved state, one of the initial stops is the Ancient THEATER OF DIONYSUS. Constructed in the 4th and 5th centuries BC in a natural amphitheater on the slopes of the Acropolis, it had an impressive capacity of 25,000 and is considered the world’s oldest. It’s fascinating to think that many renowned Ancient Greek plays premiered here!
• Propylaea - Ascend towards the monumental gateway (Propylaia) and entrance to the Acropolis.

As the Temples of the Acropolis come into view, the Ancient Greeks would have been greeted by a massive decorated Bronze Statue of the Goddess Athena. According to legend, the tip of her raised spear was visible to incoming ships in the sunlight.

• Temple of Athena Nike - Constructed around 420 BC, this Classical Ionic Temple, one of the earliest on the Acropolis, was dedicated to the Goddess Athena. It is largely restored and occupies a prominent position overlooking the city.
• Herod Atticus Odeon - Built in AD 161 by Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife, this magnificent marble amphitheater continues to function as a theater to this day.
• Parthenon - The pinnacle of the ‘Golden Age’ of Classical Greece, this temple was an unparalleled masterpiece of art, architecture, and engineering, as well as the heart of ancient Greek ceremony and worship in Athens. Time is taken at this most significant temple to provide an overview of its construction, mythology, and historical importance.
• Erechtheion - The second-largest temple of the Acropolis, the Erechtheion was dedicated to both Zeus and the Goddess Athena. The guide will highlight some of its fascinating mythology and main features, such as its impressive statues, which can now be seen in the museum.
• Acropolis - CONCLUDING THE TOUR. The guide will return you to the meeting point, or you may choose to stay and enjoy the city’s sights!
