Great for viewing the landscape of The Battle of Salamis - Great trip - the view of the landscape of the battle of Salamis was incredible. Had some trouble with initial booking but they called and rearranged the timing. Really friendly people. Sadly access onto the trireme itself was closed (renovation for a few years) but we were able to go next the pier next to it to see it in the harbour.

Ideal for history buffs - Bias alert: I'm an ancient history professor. The best thing about this tour is you get to visit where Xerxes watched the battle. Don't try to rent a car and visit on your own. There is a 7-foot chain-linked fence and a gate with a security guard. Twelve Gods has a tourist license; therefore, they are granted access. I'm unsure why this area is so fortified. It might have to do with shipping containers and Maersk. You see The Olympias at a distance--maybe 40 yards. You won't be able to go inside and touch it. The Pynx--and the prison of Socrates which is nearby--is in a wonderful park. My favorite thing about this part of the tour is the Pynx and prison are located in a delightful, hilly park that many joggers run through. The tourists are not as plentiful here as in the Acropolis and Plaka. You don't need a tour company to access these sites, though having a knowledgeable guide has benefits. WORD OF EXPERIENCE: The janitors like to close the bathrooms near the Pynx earlier than they should have, so beware of a visit later in the day. I think we found them closed around 18:30. This tour could improve by showing a history-channel video on the battle of Salamis on youtube instead of relying on a script.
