During this relaxing ride, you’ll enjoy splendid views of the Saronic Gulf while passing through some of Athens’ most beautiful suburbs, including Hellinikon Olympic complex, Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, and Varkiza. Arriving at the Cape Sounion, you will visit the 5th century B.C. Temple of Poseidon with its magnificent panoramic view of the Aegean Sea (on a clear day you can see at least seven islands). Cape Sounion has long played an important part in Greek mythology and history, and the first recorded mention of it occurs in the Odyssey, as the last safe landing before Poseidon scattered the returning Greek navy. As god of the sea, Poseidon was very important for ancient Greeks, and the scale of the Temple at Cape Sounion reflects that. Reach Cape Sounion and explore the 5th century BC Temple of Poseidon at your own pace and enjoy 1 hour of free time inside the archaeological site as the sun disappears beneath the horizon.

Poseidon tour - Christiana our tour guide was just wonderful.. giving us details during the trip of Greek history and details of the surrounding areas we travelled through.. on top of that we were lucky to have a great sunset.

Great sunset experience - Wonderful trip, thoroughly enjoyed the trip down as well as the actual sunset at the temple. The only thing that would have been better was maybe an additional 15-20 mins after sunset to enjoy the charge of colours. Basically as soon as the sun set we had to meet to get back on the bus. Guide was fantastic.

Great experience - Our guide, Christina, was excellent. On the journey from Athens she gave us an incredible amount of information about the area and Greek myths relevant to the area, as well as how to get the most out of our visit. We were part of a large group and she made sure everyone was comfortable, as well as having a sense of humour.
The sunset was amazing - a magical experience. Good cafe, clean toilets at the Cape.

A M A Z I N G!!! - This trip was amazing, not only the scenery during the drive to the Cape, but the other passengers were great. Then when we arrived WOW! it was a little hectic getting back to the bus but stay with your group and you will be fine.

Beautiful sunset, many delays - I thought everything was very delayed, told to go to hotel Athens at 3:55, bus arrived at 4:20, went to office and left at 4:45pm, after that went smooth. Would have liked more info about the site. More history. Overall, the Ruins at sunset were beautiful

Great photo chances! - A brilliant tour with exception scenes for keen photographers. The site itself is relatively small and gets very busy very quickly. The time at the site is quite limited too, so get a good spot for pictures quickly. We spent more time on the coach, but the host was great with her knowledge and commentary on the way there.
More time at the site would be great as there is a nice restaurant there. And whilst we bought tickets for the site itself they were not checked once, so i would question how many people just wander through the extremely relaxed entry point.

Long journey for a very short stop at the site - The view and location is excellent but it is a very long journey for a very short period of time at the site. We spent about 3 hours travelling in total for a 45 stop at the site. There was very limited time to sue the bathroom facilities of get a drink.

RUSHED!!! - RUSHED BIG TIME! Do not book this tour unless you want to ride on a hot bus for over an hour to get a snapshot of Poseidons temple. You have maybe 15-20m at the site. Our guide had to purchase tix at the entrance which delayed our getting into the site (should have been repurchased). The bus was hot and very uncomfortable. Do not expect the guide to offer any information about the site on the long ride. I would not do this again. Not worth the cost. The only reason I gave this tour a 3 star is because the temple itself was awesome at sunset.

Makes it possible to see the temple - Keep in mind, this is just a way to get to the location and not have to wait in a long line. It’s not a tour. It’s just a mode of transportation to get to a location that’s difficult to get to.
The time there was great and it’s a beautiful place!
